This makes me want to v8 my wagon....
Can't wait to see it finished!!
What method do you use to clean your parts before you paint them?

some parts I do get sand blasted but most stuff
I clean with a wire brush wheel on the drill
you can get different size wheels to get right into the tight spots
does take time but hey its all part of the fun and satisfaction of building your own car

Cheers mate, I was planning on using the different wire wheels to clean mine up, but thought I'd ask incase there was a better way, because yours come up looking sweet!
Hopefully you get some wagon time over the Chrissy period, so you can keep the updates coming!!

Nice, Jay - I "did" my 179 in Chev Orange when I first fitted it.... I could have gone with the dull brownish red of the early "reds", but this orange seemed to be a bit more envigorating....
My "red" is now grey..... and my "grey" became a red when it was reconditioned (Repco)...
I understand your passion to emphasize the inplant...... but I will leave my "red" a grey..... I firmly believe a grey motor in the engine bay of an early Holden (with lots of polished alloy) just seems "right"....
Sadly, you would be amazed at just how many people tell me that I still have the "old grey" in my bay...... if they don't wise up - I always tell them...
I have fooled even some of the "profound" Holden fanatics.... you would think the oil pump, almost central dizzy and two front engine mounts would be enough... but it obviously - isn't....
If you went the "grey" option - I wonder how many wouldn't pick up on the "V" configuration....?
I don't believe I have yet seen a "grey" 8...... Gr8 even......there's your chance...
With some 50 years since the last "grey" rolled off the production line.... there simply aren't many of us around any more who can relate.....the introduction of the "red" was almost cutting edge at the time - and, I fully expect the "EH prima-donna's" will make the most of their 50 year celebrations .... yes, a great model - but not the be all and end all of all Holdens - sadly that some within their ranks believe they are......
The profile of the EH, "red" motor, disc braked ball joint front end and finally - a decent 4 speed box..... in 1964 - that would have been something to rave about.... it came, but not until quite a few models later..... and with the legacy of a huge body to make it mournful....and following the terrible handling characteristics of the HD/HR.... The LC/LJ certainly brought the Holden 6 package back on line to compete with the 8's of the "blue oval".....
Apologies for digressing....
Your rocker cover paintwork is indeed - illuminating.....
frats,
Rosco

Orange is very uplifting, but......
A grey V8 would be pretty sweet.
I got told this week that the engine upgrade period is now over.
253is the largest engine that can go into EK, as a upgrade.
Qld and NSW also I believe.
Looking good Jay.

Darn it, Finny - so my outlay of over $98k for a 200 series LC with 4.5 litre twin turbo V8 with 650 nM of talks is no longer a viable proposition for the EK - by 300 cc's.... I was going to spray it "grey" too..... bugga!
The next level - was the "clatter" of the diesel..... obviously, to some - tappet noise from the "old grey".......
frats,
Rosco

yeah I think your right Adrian
it was another factor in going with the 253 for me you can go bigger
just have to jump through more hoops on one leg with one eye half open and your tongue out and to the left

not in NSW once again people spreading the wrong info you can put ANY size engine you like in IF you can find an engineer to sign off on it and they are out there, what the rego authorities put out are GUIDELINES to follow, and I believe from what an engineer has told me that in NSW the base size engine has actually gone up from the previous 330ci
