ps shame you didn't find one of those really rare pennies worth $$$ - that's what I was hoping to find in my EK.

Mate that car is far from being a scrap item.
80% of the FB EK family has rust in those spots.

Based on the photos it may take a little bit longer than planned.
Just depends how much time you have.

I agree, the condition of the floors doesn't match the condition of the rest of the car, and besides I'm enjoying the challenge!

I'd like to have the car structurally sound and back together by December for Uraidla. Bodywork is for much further down the track, for now I'm happy with a RAT for cruizing in.

J, the grey is going back in, it's going to be a slow cruizer, but if you've got a twin carb set-up and/or extractors I might be interested...

Got the driver's side floor welded in, still a few bits to tidy up.

The full extent of the cancer was revealed once I cut the passenger side floor out.

Including the front corner...


So now I will be welding a triangular piece into the kick panel, a rectangular piece into the sill - that tab poking out with the hole in it bends back in and is reinforcement for where the Y-frames attach, - and some patches for the inside base of the pillar and the outside front corner of the body. I'll do this before welding the floor in as it's easier to get to without the floor there.


The sill was full of this thick black goo (body sealer/deadener??) along with part of the 20 tonnes of soil that are in the chassis of this car.

Looking good Jonno. Although you never realise the true extent of the can of worms until you wield that grinder!!

There is a bright side you know. You can use the dirt out of the chassis to topdress your lawn, and then justify some of your landscaping budget being spent back on the car!!

It's all about lateral thinking!!

I wonder if this ever got finished. Nearly as rusted as my projects.
