if you look through the thread on thommo's chopped van somewhere in there is a link to a guy called streatneat, who's also doing a chopped van if you go through the buildup of the van he has a bit where he has put on a fuel door he says what it's off i think it was a mazda of some description, hope that helps

I thought the same thing Rosco.

What he means Matty is the part running forward off the front crossmember. "Normal" practice is to cut the HR one off and fit (weld) the original EK one back on.

DR, about the thingy infront of the cross member... will it be noticeable when car is back together... does it need to be changed...

I am trying to do as much of the basic stuff as i can but i can't do a fraction of what you do as second nature.

If you couldn't see it before my guess is it'll be fine visibility wise. My question would be does the plate its mounted on flex at all? Even though the crossmember is bolted in 2 spots I'd still be guessing you get some flex under braking and acceleration. If you have an original crossmember with outrigger maybe look into swapping them. Ask the guys doing your car what they think. if they have played around with a few early holdens then they will hopefully give you a no bull sort of answer.

lynchpin, my BIGGEST problem is impatience i reckon i could do a brilliant job if i didn't want it done yesterday thats prolly why my stuff gets done quick, i prolly cut a few corners but it's nothing that affects the finnished job

I'm guessing you're referring to the outrigger Matty? These are the best I could find without taking any.





As you can see it bolts straight upto the factory mounts without the extra peice....

Some yes and some from Moon. The new ones Johns have are really nice (new supplier), to the extent if I had spare cash I'd be swapping mine ...

The slide straight on and have a grub screw to hold them. The only mod is a slight enlarging of one to fit the wiper switch.

Thats what he's after Captainbill. If you look at Matty's you'll see the left the HR one on.

Although Matty you will probably need to find the original bracket to bolt the outrigger and its rubber back up if you do swap it. Just another piece to add to the puzzle...
