nah i don't need it i have 2 to many as it is but when you see they aren't to rusty is always tempting

So I have received the K Frame and engine numbers today.

Is it possible to find out if these numbers are matching?

BODY - FB219-2736-A
K FRAME - FB18042B
ENGINE - B73754

Can anybody verify that all wagon bodies were or weren’t built in Adelaide?

B series engine is correct but is the number rather high for what otherwise seems a relatively early body. Assembly (subframe) number seems late relative to body as well. I don’t know.

Does help to have all the numbers as a sanity check at least. Personally I wouldn’t be too worried about the security. Many others have posted full details and I’ve never heard of any rip-offs. Expensive muscle cars are a different story.

No worries at all, I just searched the forum and found the data base and yes all numbers are visible.

My post has been edited above to include all numbers.

Reconsidering it is a standard wagon the numbers seem about right. One of the rarer body styles after panel vans I think. The engine number lies around half way through the FB model range, and also through Brisbane assembly numbers. If there were five or six thousand standard fb sedan bodies made, all out of Adelaide, I wouldn’t be surprised. This is all half informed speculation on my part. Sunny Tim or Steve Jackson would have the figures but they aren’t on here too often these days.

Appears to me there is every chance its the original donk , hopefully Tim will chime in - he has a copy of the database.

Clay I asked a guy on Facebook today about his STD wagon, he had an M prefix on the ID Plate indicating the body was built Melbourne.

However this doesn’t mean anything as the body could have been shipped from Adelaide and assembled in Melbourne?

Body plate was fixed at the manufacturing plant, either Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney. Bodies were then shipped to assembly plant, Perth, Brisbane, or assembled at manufacturing plant, as I see it, and subframe stamped accordingly.

Usually a Brisbane assembled car will have a Sydney built body, and a Perth assembled car will have an Adelaide built body, for obvious logistical reasons.

There is some confusion between body plate and subframe numbers, but if there are Melbourne and Sydney bodied wagons about then obviously they did build wagon bodies at the other plants. The fact that your car has an Adelaide body and Brisbane subframe, is unusual to me, so just speculating really.
