There's enough of the pillar/sill-end there to anchor everything off, but yeah, there'll be some new metal going in.

yeah nice, I saw them advertised on kingswoodcountry's website - can't really justify it on this one - bit of patching will fix it

yeah, I've got a manual sheet-metal bender which is pretty handy for making patches ... but, it was so easy (lazy) to go through all of the available repair sections and buy them in one go

Very handy machine. What length can you bend?

It's 750mm wide. I picked it up from Supercheap a while back for about $50

It's advertised as being able to bend up to 1.4mm thick. One of the reviews says it struggles with anything over 1mm and 500mm in length.

I usually work with 1.2mm and haven't had a problem. I clamp the top plate down with a couple of pairs of vice grips.

Yeah would have been good to have something like that when I replaced mine, had to guess and make it by hand !

Good progress on the ute !!

I have the same little bender it works pretty well but as you say just have to clamp the centre, I just use a couple of G clamps.

I thought about getying one but for the inner sills needed 1.6 and that is expensive so thought why bother and folded up in the vice. But now you can get them stamped with the circle indents might have to rip them off and go again.

yeah, I saw those stamped sills for $480 a pair - but considering that I'm not 'restoring' the EK, I went with the flat steel for a quarter of the price (and I think once they're in there's not a lot of chance I'll 'rip them off and go again') :smile2:
