Thanks guys, hey I love the car, I have owned it for seventeen years! I don't want to see it scrapped, though, it needs a lot of work.

If anyone wants to do it then I will pay (Within reason) good dollars to keep it, otherwise, I will put the $$$ into buying another nice original FB.

I shouldn't have taken my eye off it & let it be left in the weather in the first place.

Retro, one of the worse parts is the back section where one would make a seat.

Ratbox, would prefer to keep the trim together as a set, with is the front seat re-stitched, it would be a great asset for another standard. Or someone that had a fleet of Honey Beige FB's & needed spares :D :D :D Anyway, Wayne wants to buy your van!!!

Harko, Retro, Ratbox give me a time frame on the work!

Ratbox, yes, I remember him!!!

DO NOT SCRAP this car. Either sell it to somebody that can use it or learn to weld. Check out Petrolheads FB(members rides) as that was in about the same condition. I spent 5 years rebuilding this car and put a whole sheet of steel back into the car.I went to tech to learn to weld and after finishing the FB I am now a "tallented" fabricator which I am proud of and in the process another FB is back on the road. If you have to pay somebody to do all the panel work then sell it to the highest bidder as it will cost you too much.

Thanks for your advice Petrolhead, much appreciated. Would love to have the time to learn to weld, it's about the only thing I didn't do in the first fifteen years of building cars. I moved away from Mechanics, panel/spray twenty years ago.

Happy to pay someone to do it!

I have the guards, looking for the doors & boot.

Can't buy better guards than NOS ones 'eh Steve    .

Saw them on Evilbay.

FB guards are hard to come by in this neck of the woods although I have a few EK guards in various conditions ( as you saw last time you were here ).

Lol Dave. The guard starting showing signs of Rust very early on. That is why the new guards were acquired (back in the '60's) by the owner, though, as you can see never fitted.

Here are some more pics

Hi Mick, that's right, I found the Ute via the guy (Pete) selling the two new FB NOS guards on ebay. (I purchased them). I asked Pete how he got the guards .... then enter the UTE into the conversation. The original owner (MR McNAB) purchased the guards "new" a few years after purchasing the Ute, (as mentioned earlier in the thread) the original guard had rusted up early on.

I asked Pete did he want to sell the Ute .... "I've only had it two weeks" he said ... it's on it's way to Sydney!!!
