I'm surprised he knocked back the bug catcher. It doesn't exactly stick out a lot

I'm not. I've heard engineers don't like those intake mechanisms as a general rule, something to do with moving parts protuding above the bonnet line or some such.
I like where you're going with this car searsy

Hey searsy how d you vent that drop tank? Do ya need to run an externall breather/vent or will it vent throught the filler?? As mine came out of another car it had a venting pipe but I blanked it off. Dunno if it will create a vacum or not

I used an original filler neck with vented cap . The outside diameter of the tubes where different so i got my local exhaust man to expand some pipe which I welded to the original cap fitting .Then i got some hose from the local hydraulic hose man.I found this an easy fix as I had the same thoughts about vacume locks etc.
Have no probs with vac lock at all

( and believe me she loves the fuel)

and no smell of fuel in the cabin or boot as I had with the fuel cell

.
Hope this helps

Good thinkin mate. Did you just buy a breathable cap or just "vent" the original????
I had a VG Commo ute years ago that drew fumes into the cab so bad that a young lady once asked me not to light my smoke in case it went ka-boom

She wasn't that smart, thats why i was with her

hi guys,
I just got my motor back from being rebuilt and the engine builder had a blown 350 in an fb running a 66 mustang tank in it. Everything fits neat. Just cut filler pipe to size, but it was in the right spot.
Just wondering if you could measure the distance from the block to the under bonnet for me as I'm not sure if mine is going to fit under bonnet. The manifold is a wiend duel plane but high profile with a holly, but the air cleaner sits high on the carb.
thanks.

I have 300mm between where the rocker cover bolts to the head and the top off the air cleaner nut, this leaves about 5mm clearance from the bonnet.
I am also running a domed air cleaner or else it would foul on the rear bonnet bracing.
Hope this helps

Go injected. Ive got about 2 foot of clearance!!
Yeah Mustang tanks fill well and funnily enough the same year mustang radiators are a pretty good fit too

Thanks for that searsy. I have around 260mm from the bolt to the top of the air cleaner
Would love to go injected, but the budget isn't there for me. the wife wants a/c now, so one more thing to add to my to do list $$$$

I will Check out those radiators though
