Yep zero room so mines been relocated to spare wheel area.

Trying to fit v8, auto, aircon, power steering, alternator in a decent location and able to get adjustment, headers that won’t be restrictive, a cooling system that will cope and keeping everything neat and serviceable it was a compromise but best option for me.

Sorry bout the crappy screenshots but you get the gist.Image

So I've found out that Keith is a perfectionist
I am too impatient and just want the roof on the wagon but Keith wont let it anywhere near it until it is prepared properly so yesterday he came and we cleaned up the sides etc. so now we have moved the roof into my workshop so that I can strip the rest of the roof with paint stripper then I have to turn it over and clean the underside kill rust.

Most older tradesman are perfectionists, Neil it will be worthwhile because it wont rust again in a hurry.

Your wagon roof supports will most likely need the same treatment, depending where and how you cut it off.

Looking awesome, i love this type of work.

Greg

Hey Greg you must have been listening to Keith yesterday because they were almost his exact words.
As I said I'm a bit impatient but he is 81 now and I think a Guru so I'm following what he says, seeing I'm paying may as well do it right.

I’m very familiar with that red etch prime from stripping my ute. Paint stripper didn’t seem to affect it, and it went through many strip discs.

The modern red primers are largely zinc phosphate based. I suspect the early Holden ones may be lead oxide "red lead" based. Mebbe wear a mask, and don't lick your fingers.

Cheers,
