Iron out the bugs and away you go.
Cheers Neil. Expect lots of questions on here while I fine tune all the things that I've thrown at it...

Man looking back through this thread and you really have done a fair amount of work to get the old battle axe back on the road. Great job

This is happening tonight:

Fish oiled the whole show underneath, ran a bead of mastic round the flange and across the supports, then dropped the board in.

I chose different spacing to factory for the cargo strips, so I could drill fresh holes for the screws to pull down into, the existing holes were a mess.

I also installed 16 fancy dome-head stainless bolts & nuts where the old cage had been previously. For something that will spend it’s life mostly out of sight under the tonneau, the tray is looking pretty flash.

G'day everyone.

I'm still missing the snap-clip on the clutch pedal at the pivot. I put a shout back when I first got Leroy... to no avail. Since then, I've rigged up a C-clip situation that is not as secure as I would like. so I am still wondering if anyone out there has one they can stick in an envelope & post to me in exchange for a few $$? I'm keen to fit an original part here.

It's this guy here:

Thanks in advance!

Joe,

I'll almost certainly have one. Remind me at the end of next week (when I am home again) and I'll dig one out.

Cheers,
Harv

Joe,

Hole for the clevis pin looks like it's worn oval too . . . but I remember how much fun it is welding and filing.

I think the photo looks worse than it is - I’m up under the dash as I type and with the new Rare Spares clevis pin installed, there’s no play at all.

Stitched up a split seam in the bench set tonight by hand... looks a bit like my broken finger, post operation, but at least it’s taut now.

Image

Started painting the seat with the dark blue VHT Vinyl dye that I had left over from the door trims, but ran out. There’s another can waiting for me at the shop, I’ll collect it and finish the job in the sun and relative 18° warmth predicted for tomorrow...

Image

Spent some time bolstering the padding with woollen blankets underneath and a little more effort went into cable tying some errant springs so the seat base feels a little more even side to side now. Also prepped and painted the seat side trims in the same dark blue used on the front springs & shocks.

That sign with the 1985/86, pre-homolgation era Group A VK that Brock’s sitting on also has a boxing kangaroo on the flip side, for the America’s Cup defence of 1987! My brother somehow acquired that from the Killara Mobil servo back in the day. I reckon Rob (ardiesse) would be pretty well acquainted with that particular locale ;)

Cheers, Joe

Hi Joe,
Nice work on the seat ends, they look great. The seat should come up a treat too with a bit of Sydney sun

That poster of the VK Dunnydoor, is that the model with the Brocky polariser? I've got a N.O.S polariser I plan on fitting to my ute which according to the fitting/commissioning instructions says I should gain at least 20 h.p at the back wheel whilst improving handling

Regards
Stephen

The Polariser fiasco came a little later... this car is in the stockie(ie: not a blue meanie Group A) handicapped with the single row timing chain that famously gave up while PB was chasing down the Walkinshaw Jag in the dying laps at Bathurst in 1985... wearing John Harvey’s full face helmet with both front and rear screens removed. Larrikin stuff! I remember being very bummed out as a kid watching that.

The HDT at this point were all legends - Neil Burns, Ron Harrop etc, pretty sure they all walked out when the Polariser appeared...

...but don’t let that stop you Stephen! Hahaha
