Rosco,

Its pretty easy when its all painted and ready to go and you
know it all fits. A couple of things did hold me up though as there's
always something that you find you've forgotten to paint or some
stainless bolts you've forgotten to get. :x The wiring will certainly slow
things up a bit.

Geeze Mal,

You've done plenty in 1 day, couple more weekends and you'll be finished , bar the interior maybe. The next project will be interesting, or is that the last. :)
Nice job, as I said before look forward to seeing her in the flesh.

Unfortunatly, I'm not a fan of the red calipers. But everyone to there own.

the calipers were done when the car was going to be red.
I don't know if they will be staying yet either. :?

Hi Malcolm,
just one suggestion, if you want to paint that "bitumen".............
In one or two spots that I have "chosen" to leave it applied, I coated it with fishoilene.......Wattyl - left it a month with plenty of air and good temprerature and then it happily took Wattyl metal primer and whatever enamel top coat you want.............
Has worked for me...
Maybe something for you to consider if you have to take it off the road for a while and want colour under there......

It's been said before in this thread, but I'll add my voice to the masses...

you are a legend!!!

The car is looking awesome, and will be one of the best builds I've ever seen when finished.
I feel lucky when I can spend half an hour in the shed doing a basic tune-up, and then I see the amount of work you do here and it astounds me.

It's guys like you who inspire people to build their own cars. Anyone got an old FB body they don't want... :wink:

Hey Mal,
Just a couple of things,
Are the pipes stainless?
With the rear end by the time you get all the weight back on doors glass boot then fill the tank with fuel it will drop quite a lot.
I know you probably have checked but how far does the diff travel before the callipers hit the wheel tubs or do they miss completely?
I had a mates EH in the shed once to cut out the tubs for clearance with the callipers.
The car is looking very nice and like I said before plod now and get it perfect.
I will try very hard to get to YAMBA just to have a look.

Hey Greg,

Most of the system is zinc coated steel but the mandrel bends are all stainless.
I did weight the rear down to check for clearance and I ended up notching a small section on the side of the rails just to give a bit more clearence for the calipers. Iam expecting it to come down a fair bit when all finished, so much that it should sit lower than it is in the picture without the lowering blocks.
I'm not really rushing into getting things done, its just when I have days off its usually during the week so I have no distractions and I get heaps done. Putting things back together also is going very smoothly as everything is made to fit and just falls into place.

mate that is looking unreal!! i love the black and yellow, goes well together .... but i reckon either alloy calipers or black or yellow ... no red :)

Hi again guys and gals,

Another couple of days in the shed have once again proved very productive. Finally got the front end
all in and fitted up with brakes and bits

Followed by the wiring and A/C going back in. I'm glad I took a
shipload of photos when I originally had it all together, as I have
had to resort to them on several occasions for reference. :? :x

I was rapped to see it sitting back on all fours again :lol:

Once again, gave the engine and trans a pressure clean ready for
refitting

And finally engine goes back in. It really is so easy putting it all
together when you know it all fits. I was rapped to see it outside in the sunlight for the first time.
