Another problem has arisen: the bonnet won't open

Latch seems to move as usual, and the other thingo move side to side but no go on lifting it more than about 1cm up.

ANy tips?

This happened to mine  , what has happened is the latch that holds the bonnet down has worn a groove that has a ledge on it that will stop it from coming up, get your hand in there from underneath and release it with your finger, get your grinder out and take the offending ledge off.
Hope this makes sense  , Trev 8) .

Gday All,

Quick update:

Spent my holidays working so I didn't get time do alot on the FB.

Despite not having much time, I did manage to do a whole lot of little "tidy up" jobs on it, with one being replacing all of my tinted lenses with brand new ones. The original rationale behind tinting the old lenses was to cover their very tired and cracked state.

Another thing I achieved was installing Toyota H.I.D. headlights into the FB. What a difference it has made!!! I can't recommend this mod enough. The stepup from original Bosch sealed beam units to H4 inserts was ok, but did not yeild me the results I really wanted. However, this 35w H.I.D. upgrade is just amazing. I am even running it on stock wiring (each side only 35w!)

Next up on the to do list is install all new window rubbers in the front doors to hopefully put an end to the rattling and whistling that currently plagues them, and has done for as long as I have owned the vehicle.

While I am at the front doors, I might also install electric door poppers and remove the RB door poppers as not being able to lock the FB is proving rather problematic....

Oh and finally, one of the other little jobs I did on the FB was cutting the rear bump stops. The result of this mod was also amazing! A much smoother ride over speed bumps

Yeah mate they are the Streetlens ones.

I tried very hard to get him to allow me to order 2 sets however he didn't allow it?

I think he could only find 3 individual lenses. So sorry that I was unable to share shipping with you

As for fit, they fit fine.

All the best
Andrew

Hi Tim,

The FB is going well.

I saw it this time last week, and the fin had been repaired.

They had just got a new tail light for it, and were about to have it re chromed :)

Toyota H.I.D. headlights ...

Gday Andrew,

Mate ... very interested in these "Toyota H.I.D. headlights" you've got setup ...

Can I ask where you got them, and how much did they cost you? And how did you come across them / know that they'd be a good fit? Whats involved in getting them to work in a stock FB setup? Can it be done by a novice, or is it best to get an auto-electrician to do it?

Cheers,
Jamie.
