An up-date on the EJ Diff ...
Here's it in it's painted form...
I've started on the brakes....had to use new PBR cylinders as the original ones needed hammering just to get the pistons out!
as for the rest it's just alot of cleaning/wire brushing/rust converting/etch primering & painting..as you can see the difference between the before & after shot.

Hi all as you may or may not know I have had a small clutch problem since last weekend and have had to drop the gearbox out ot find out what was up.
It was acting like a pressure plate failure or a trow-out arm breakage...as it has turned out to be a spring from the clutch plate has dislodged itself an wedged between the cluch & pressure plate. I've NEVER come across this ever before? Or for that matter heard of it happening? Point is, I will now replace the entire clutch & pressure plates with brand new ones..

so while I had everything out I've had the advantage of totally cleaning & painting all the bits.
Here's the photo's...
Here's the 'box' just been pressure washed & ready for a coat of grey...

I mark all the bits and clean 'em up on the wire brush on the bench grinder then paint the bits that need it..yes I even wirebrush clean the split washers...?

This photo is for sunny Tim..see ..it was'nt the clutch fork!!

here's the repainted starter motor...I did'nt like it beeing entirely blue!..yuck!...

And here is the repeted photo's from the "D'oh" subject I put up..I'm still at a loss as to HOW this could ever happen???

I saw the Easter bunny hopping out of a J Van Tonight on TV! I think he was driving it. Sounds to me to be a HARE BRAINED way to deliver easter eggs! But thats the sort of comment you would expect from a Dumb Bunny who probably has little respect for Morris J Vans.

Just had one of those "LIGHT-BULB" moments while cleaning out my junk shed...
Why do I have to stick to my standard EK scuttle vent when I can do this?
...of course I will fill in the middle with flat-ish steel & remove the EJ wiper arm holes, but..I LIKE IT!
(this will go on the next version of my car..more custom!)

G'day all, now I finally am on a well earned break from work it's time to get some much needed work done on the EK..namely the diff!
So got up and out to the shed to get into it..this took most of the day as I had to do all the fiddly stuff like make gaskets (yes I know you can buy 'em, but I had some gasket paper lying around and it easy enough to make 'em yourself) & clean all the bit's taken off the car as well.
Here's some happy snaps of the process.
Remember the EJ diff housing I did up a few months ago?? here's it now

Just..urrnngg undoing this grrr bloody bolt!!

YAY..out with the old..

...and in with the new!

All bolted up,oiled new brakes bleed & ready for the wheels back on and drive. (P.S. am getting a hand brake cable made up so it wont be fro a week or so 'till I get a hand brake...no biggy. )
You have to admit the later model EJ diff is much prettier than an original diff housing.

Gotta agree, but I'm biased as I've got the same setup....
