Ok well today I went in to with the intent to just paint up a few bits and bolt in together.
He is quite busy with 3 cars in the shop so I just did a few things and had to get some assistance from him every now and then.

Bolted on all the chrome, new fuel pump (i broke the other one

Then towards the end of the day we got the engine sitting in there!

Might have a bit of a problem with radiator clearance, might have to bolt it on the outside.

But yeh doing front engine mounts on saturday!

I could be wrong but it looks like the fan is on backwards?! :?

Standard fan will work just as well on the 161, don't think you'll gain any noticeable HP   running that flex fan, plus it could end up hitting the radiator core....

Getting there though! 8)

Getting there J 8) Mate pretty sure the fan has to go the other way around. The edge of the blade that the blue centre piece attaches is the leading edge and the motor turns clockwise as viewed from the front. You will also need a shim block between the fan and pully or the blades will hit the fan belt. If you dont have the mounting/shim block your best running a stock fan for now

Did not see the other replies  as what the others said

hahahahahaha im an idiot
we even turned the engine to do up the torque converter!

whats this shim block? couldnt I just make up some kind of spacer?
if its all to hard it doesnt matter, got the fan for free :D

you probably won't have the room to space the fan out

Spacer J it needs to be about 20mm wide as you will see when you turn the fan around. Im talking from experiance as i tried fitting a flex fan a while back. Its a real tight fit.... i had mine on and running good at idle and down the street but when i gave it the right foot on the hwy the fan flexed into the radiator. It only just nicked it but was enought to f%^& it. I think i still have the spacer here which you are welcome to, but personaly i would stick with a stock fan, the small gain is not worth the headache

Ben , Was your a offset spaced fan blade type or even spaced fan blade.

I'm having a guess here but I reckon you'll be struggling to get that fan in there with enough clearance to miss the radiator unless somehow you can get the engine mounted as far back as possible without hitting the head and/or bellhousing on the firewall/trans tunnel.

And as others have said, fan is on backwards.

I'd just be useing the standard fan.Trouble free fitment and it will pull enough air for what you want unless of course you want a pretty looking fan to make it look tougherer    .

Same as the one pictured John, although it was 5 blades and smaller in diameter. In saying that i think the one pictured here is also to big in diameter and will hit the top and bottom radiator hoses ?. The one i fitted from memory had about 10mm spacing between blade and fan belt and the same between blade and radiator. But at high rpms the pressure that flattens the blades must also flex the bades towards the radiator a little. I could of milled more of the spacer, but really felt it was all getting to little tolarance all round. I really only tried it for piece of mind with the condensor in front of the radiator and my lack of faith in aftermarket thermos. There are two thermos on the condensor and i noticed one not working, gave it a flick with the finger and of it went

Im gonna struggle to get a fan in there period..
gonna run a reversed thermo fan.

Also - engine mounts are now welded on after a lot of screwin around yesterday. Made a backing plate for the bellhousing as well.
On the road probably late next week

Standard fan should fit J, if I remember I'll try and get a pic of mine. It all came out of a HK and fits very snug....
