Errol62 wrote:The HD HR calipers are twin piston just like the ktg one Clint. Standard FB and even drum brake HR rims would foul the calipers slightly. Factory disc brake rims were slightly different to drum brake for this reason. Depending on which rear brakes you use you won’t be able to run them on the rear either.
Are you going to 14” rims, I forget. You’ll need different wheel nuts for HT HG. Same for HK.
A9X Torana used HQ discs and calipers and the uca had to be clearanced from factory, but was reinforced somehow to compensate.
FB ute fixer upper, EK van on rotisserie
Copy that mate , running hg 14s so no worries and hg nuts to suit.
My spare is a 13 with 5 early wheel nuts and socket to suit.

I can see the benefit of a longer LCA on the HR and more so being a wider vehicle and advertising and true 6 seater.
Maybe best to hunt for a set of HR ones Roger .
Id like to see a HR and a HD one layed next to a ek one to compare them besides the ball and king bit of them .

Hi Clint
I had to remove a small amount of the top control arm almost the same place as where you have marked on the front but I am using VP calipers on my drop spindles.

Rob you're correct as always. No disc specific wheel assembly.

Clay,
EH commercials after March 1965, HD and HR commercials had the same wheels.
HD passenger vehicles had one part number, HR passenger vehicles another. (The offset may have changed slightly).
But no drum/disc distinction.
Myth busted.
The thread may now be returned to its owner.

Thanks for posting Clay and yes, Rob - myth busted. I was "taken" by the wreckers and paid double the price of one wheel in the process... thank you Kilsyth Parts recovery service.
I will keep this info as ammunition when further comment is made.. it comes up from time to time, as do many others.
Much appreciated,
frats,
Rosco

The only thing to be wary of is that the MasterParts manual was released relatively late (e.g. well after the HD had finished). Sometimes parts are listed in the individual vehicle parts manual, but are later superceded when GMH realised that common parts would fit (e.g. an FJ may have had a unique widget, but it was later found that a similar widget would suit FX-HR). I've been caught out before where I opened my mouth to say something did not exist, only to find it had been superceded.
It may be useful to check the supercession tables at the back of the MasterParts, or the HD and HR "one vehicle" parts manuals (if they exist) before we declare the myth Busted.
Cheers,
Harv

Quite stoked to have a brown snake half hiding in the mud below my ladder. Must have been very lost. Under a grinding mill with maximum noise and ground vibrations
