All depends on how big the box is, Harko.
And if you package Ratbox, you need a pretty big box..
And that takes time.

Sorry mate my hours on the job leave me working on the car in the dark , and the only camera I have is a mobile which takes crappy pixelated photos not worthy of the forum - kinda like watching a cheap copied dvd when you shoulda watched it on the big screen.

Got the subframe on and front end under and shes back on wheels

as i was saying ill be fitting the engine and trans but on a twelth hour decision i decided not to use the turbo 400 and rather go with a 700 which i dont have .

So i have to find one ...

In the meantime ive started tweaking and smoothing the dashboard to clean it up.

Mini sourced a roof for me and that will be ready and waiting after the weekend of wagga swap .

And the roof design/colour has to be resolved shortly with engine and engine bay ,trim and dash color all hinging on it .

Its a daily driver at this point and i have the choice of running a 400 ,350, 305 or 283 ,any help apreciated here

Hi Harko,
Does NSW have a cube limit? I thought is was 330ci? if so that will narrow the field unless   say no more,
If engine size is no issue then I'd go the 350 with a stroker kit 383ci, heaps of torque which can be tuned to give half reasonable economy being a daily driver and all.

With the Turbo 700, I am pretty sure that you will need the speed sensor (or an after market one) in the box setup so it locks up the converter. If it helps, I did a transplant of a T700 into my 80 series cruiser (5lt EFI motor used), I got an adapter and speed sensor from "Mark's 4WD Adapters", it is programable and I have it set so it locks up at 60kph, works great. Here is there website:

Hope it helps

can't say i've ever owned one of those engines (yet) however have driven a 350 & a 283.

given they were both mildly worked i would have to say i prefered the 283, seemed much smoother, with plenty of torque still! plus surely can be set up more econmomical than the 350 i would image (obviously less power the downside - but me thinks this may be for crusin! 8) ) but at the end of the dau it's what you want....

Cheers

You are probably right NoMAD, the 283 would be better on fuel........ I was just thinking of causing the back tyres some serious McPain when cruising

Good to hear of progress mate.

I say 400 mate if you can, nothing extreme (more then likely 2 bolt main being 400). Very nice cruiser with sound.
