Thanks boys , getting closer , the list of things to do is getting smaller , pick up a new speedo cable today and chase my tailshaft and see how that is going, get those couple of things sorted under the car and I will be able to get her off the stands .
It was a good feeling to get the engine fired Sam , there is always that bit of doubt in the back of your mind , have I done everything right , hope it all doesnt turn to poo , but am a happy boy now

.
Hmm , now I have to go and clean the shed so I can do some work this week , what a mess

that sanding dust is everywhere

G,day ek amigo
The kit came from oldnewparts in the states , found them on ebay.com , it fitted really easy .
How are you going with your beast ??

Hi Rusty,,
Well done mate you are on track quite nicely.
Got a question in regards to your primer. I have never painted 2 pack before so I was wondering if you rub back the primer wet or dry ???
Anyway keep up the good work and it will be exciting for it to roll under its own power.
Regards Greg

G,day Greg
Good question , I am way not an expert on painting and this is the first time I have used 2pac , I have asked this question of a few people and get differant answers , some say dry as the primer will suck the moisture in , some say wet ????
Have researched it on the net and in books and again you get differant answers , mate I dont know ?
I have tried it both ways with the first coat , wet gives a much better finish and to me is much easier to sand , dry takes a bit more sanding but the dust is horrible and you need to wear a good mask the same as painting .
If anybody with painting knowledge would like to weigh in on this would love your input .

my mate's a panel beater he says either way and most people i speak to say either way, but they do it dry at the shop he works at mainly due to the fact they use machines, they say the moisture isn't really an issue as 2 pak is a little more moisture resistant and it's also not continually exposed to the moisture,
as rusty said you need to wear a good mask when dry rubbing (i can vouch for this

) where as wet you don't need the mask

I was going to go with wet , its not like it is sitting in the rain sucking it in and that dust is not good .

thanks for the window info Rusty, my beast is going well ,having heaps of fun getting details right and planning the final paint stage. unfortunately the electronics guy fitting up the ecu had to have a knee op so although the engine is running he has to finish off the wiring before I can move on. I like going slow , its a journey don't want to miss the scenery.

and then I dont know how true it is but I heard that wet sanding 2k allows it to enter your body through the pors of your skin...

It enters through the pours of your skin, and anywhere else it comes in contact with. Wet or dry sanding, or spraying and it does not leave the body and builds up till one of several things happens. and none are plesant and an early death is certain because proper documented safety precautions are ignored by those using it.
