I don’t know when I will be installing it Matt. I phoned Roger Hancock today and wound up having a 25 minute chat. He did promise to get on with it.
Engine been a bit fluffy at light throttle lately. Pulled the plugs. Front three have a fair black soot buildup while the rear three are nice and brown.

Yep, thanks Matt. I’ll check the front choke also. I can’t think of any other reason the front three would be running rich, but it is consistent with the low throttle chugging. No good looking at the exhaust colour these days…

Maybe:
a) vacuum leak to power bypass piston (no vacuum, piston opens, circuit runs rich).
b) power bypass piston spring is kaput or stretched.
c) power bypass piston jammed open in the bore.
d) power bypass valve passing like a sieve.
e) float level waaaay too high again.
f) float bowl vent blocked whilst air cleaner is dirty (a very long shot).
g) PCV is fed to that carb only.
Cheers,
Harv

Thanks Harv, no PCV. I will consider the other points.
Matt I am using a factory VH 202 coil fed 12 - 13.6 V. No resistor/starter bypass. It ran this way for many years with the same setup in my sedan. I have done about 9000km on it in this car before the issue appeared. I speculate that the button just wore out.
