Yeah the new alternator gives it a real kick but I fully intend using a good crank battery plus a really good earth to body from battery plus earth from motor to body so it all ties together - certainly important if I fit the magneto to cope with the extra sparky sparky but so happy with the ease it now starts with the powergen alternator - well worth the coin

I use one of these mounted next to my boot mounted battery gives protection if cable shorts out, main concern being possible damage in an accident. From memory I have a 400 amp fuse in it.

Slight change of plan - end ed up running it underneath to the back of the cabin then into the tub as the cable is just too thick to go under the the matting in cab -16mm just makes too big a lump to content with - will handle plenty of go juice

The T96 coming along nicely with a clean up - new bearings - end caps machined - bore honed - next challenge is the shaft and rotor re make as existing had bent shaft - bit of tricky machining but I’m sure Fred is up to the challenge.
Balancer and pulley are mated and ready - casting done for tensioner.
Waiting on manifold flanges to be laser cut then he can knock up the manifold for engine side - do a test fit then to confirm we can use a HD8 su carb

Been a slow go recently with work taking over in the silly season.
Battery relocation done and looking good - took the old girl for a few drives around to keep the juices flowing and yep they are flowing alright - rear main is gushing now so the donk needs to come out - hoping to list the help of Bill Reid from Vic club to do the job.
The chrome bits that were being re-done should all be back this week so I can put back together and radio in next week as well so if I can sort the motor I might be able to get out for some shows once the weather improves.
Wray is progressing ok - Fred has made a new rotor shaft and rotor and pressed the two together ready for final machining and cutting of the slots - can't imagine how trickey that job is so that's all progressing well albeit it a little slowly.
Picked up a decent second hand 1 3/4 SU from Scotty J Woodbridge who popped in to say hi - if you haven't seen his Black FJ google it as it's freakin awesome and mostly hand done.
Doing some fix ups in the rear tray now battery is done - had all the holes filled in and going to add Nutserts to enable me to put in and remove the timber floor easier as the previous screws were a bit agricultural.
Once those things done it's off to the diff shop.
Always something to do.

Bloody rear mains. Think I know the FJ. Tasteful custom work. Triples with hub cap air filters?
What about Dzus style quarter turn fasteners for the tray?

Bloody greys and their oil leaks ! I started modifying cars after I couldn't stand the oil anymore.
You have to really sort it because once that blower goes on oil will come from everywhere you could imagine.
Good to see although, its good this old technology, fun and relatively easy.

Ha Ha - yeah I will have to get some kitty littler for the garage I think - the blower will be pretty mild in compression so shouldn't make the old girl strain much at all - the annoying thing is it's a fresh rebuild - just been sitting for a couple years.
Trying to keep it old school but will use a couple modern tricks to improve drivability but don't tell anyone -

Question for the Wiser - Ive been offered a pretty good nick FE-FC front end thats had all the work done and in a better condition than my current one - Apart from a the stub mounting bolt difference and drums is there any real difference to EK - Mine had had a couple of decent bangs on the front member and is far from straight - can they be interchanged?
Also how hard is it to drop the front out with motor staying in?

On a good note it looks like rear main is all fine and I just need to chase a few leaks from rocker cover - dizzy - dipstick etc
