I think I need to do the same job, internal linkages are tight.

No drew, just fitted a shift bush kit. Topped up oil in the box. Painted, fitted, adjusted.

We had a heap of Burmese , both blues and creams - such characters

I redid the bushes in mine with a Rares kit but it really didn't help a lot - I think the best option would be to send a column to Roger in Vic and have it redone professionally

Thanks fellas for the feedback on the steering column, lol leave that puzzle for a little while until I get some bench space clear.

I spent this morning scuffing the etch and laying some seam sealer into the joins on the underbody.
Covering the welds on the floor pans repairs that I have done.

Messy stuff that seam sealer, a bit rough in some spots but I’ll give it a little smooth over with some thinners

As mentioned in another thread I have also fixed the seatbelt mounts to the floor pan, B pillar and behind the C pillar.

Blacky and Harv gave some good advice about the legalities and basically I’m going the just leave the car with no seat belts… for now.

So I have blanked off the mounting plates with bolts and looking at it , and probably overthinking it, would I be best just filling the holes with grommets.

The question is more so for the bolts in the B pillar which are at head height… could the exposed bolt as per the photo be deemed dangerous and potentially get the car failed on its first inspection?

Not so much dangerous, it just stands out. They will likely ask where the belts are.

So I had better start thinking about the floor coverings for my wagon, it’s at a point where I’ll be cutting cost on the stuff that doesn’t matter and floor carpet is one of those things.

A couple of options are…

Buy some carpet form a local carpet shop and spend the day rooting around to make it all badly fit or..

Buying a cheap moulded front and rear carpet kits for under $200 and just throw it in.

Not sure if the moulded kit will be worth it but I’m sure it will be pretty junky.

Has anyone fitted a cheap moulded carpet before… how did it turn out?

I did the former in my sedan. Worked ok. But I don’t like carpet in cars full stop. Let alone these old jiggers. Repro front mat at least from Martin Vigo in Melbourne will make the car, but not cheap.

That's a Knox moulded carpet. $165, plus some freight, plus some underlay. I used Knox in both my wagon and Grace's ute. Service from Knox was great, product arrived promptly. They fit well, but needed a little blow-dryer work around the trans hump. They are slightly too wide, which is great - trim to suit around the scuff plates is a lot nicer than some hoodlinings that are a poofteenth too narrow. Quality of the carpet is good. I went with the red loop pile in both cases. Definitely need floor mats, as the red shows all the scuff marks/dirt from your shoes.

I also bought a length of matching flat carpet to trim out the back of the wagon, and the rear face of the rear seat. When the rear seat is folded flat, its carpet from firewall to tailgate. Very disco.
