Hey Rob,
That looks like a tidy unit to replace the old genny, with a good output at idle. Was the old genny dead or do you just need more juice to run your accessories?

Thanks mate - cylinders were on it when i got it but beleive they are eh ej - i have a couple decent fb ek ones Im going to plate and replace those so they r correct ImageImage

Cheers mate, yeah I have the original tin ones to but they are in not great shape. I was going see if I can get them re-made somewhere, thought you have had them made

Yeah I had the same idea and tried to contact a couple of tin making places in Aus but they dont answer phones and dont reply to emails so clearly not interested - maybe you will have more luck
Mine were in ok shape to start but by no means perfect and they plated up pretty good - the big issue I have found with FB/EK ones I seen and collected is they tend to have rust in the top around the outer edge from water sitting in them and condensation and would be near impossible to repair well as the tin is pretty thin - I guess that's why 90% of fb and ek's running about have the later model plastic ones.

I just had a set of NOS ones that were pretty crappy looking even though they were unused rebuilt at Perth brake parts - cost me $550 :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: I can see why people use the plastic ones .......

Jeepers Blacky - did they have rust holes? Mine were just a good clean and re-plate and they came up mint.

no they were really nice , just covered in surface rust on the outside, inside was shiny and new, still had the little stoppers in the outlet pipe etc. :evil: :evil:

wow - ok the plater here only charges around 350$ for a full basket so think your brake guys have done well for themselves :evilll:

I spoke to a guy over in Qld from a joint called Southern Stainless Steel, they do a whole bunch of stuff including custom made car parts. I've sent him a bunch of pics of the old ones, he seemed reasonably confident they could do something so we will see what he comes back with.

Retro alternator fitted and fired up - a little wine but seams like more responsive - wired direct to starter so it kicks over really nicely Image

yep - certainly is GPI - they send out more detailed instructions in the box they come in - can connect to + on battery or + on starter

You seam a bit pessimistic about the whole thing GPI - any reason? Sparky loved it and it gives a constant 14V plus - when I go back down to the garage I'll take a pic of the destructions and post it so you can see I'm not some cowboy doing dodgy jobs - it's all legit and tested. :peaceout:
