Doing some work before the holiday. 1/2 tonne firewood. Rears rubbing outside rear edge. Some hammer work coming.

Clay,
195 km/h in proper units is . . . 2x62.1-3 . . . 121 mph. Strewth.
Last time I drove from Cobar to Broken Hill there were plenty of wide open spaces, but many goats 'tween Cobar and Wilcannia, and a slaughterhouse of dead roos from Wilcannia to Broken Hill.
If you want to let rip, somewhere east of Little Topar would be my recommendation. Is your driveshaft well-balanced?

Old Dudley told me a trick to balance the tail shaft by trial and error using a hose clamp as weight. Plenty of open road to try it out on.

Been driving ute everywhere to highlight any bugs. No key on driver side is getting on my nerves. Horn contact has developed an annoying squeak when the wheel is turned. I've left out the caliper pad anti rattle springs. Front right tyre was down 6psi.
When warmed up the overhead gear sounds like a sewing machine. Good sign for the cam bed in to lifters I venture.

I knew that

. Rattly on startup after a layup then nothing. Hydraulic lifters are standard Singer part.

Yes Rob,
I did it to my standard EK sedan in 1986. But the originality? LOL
I don't usually worry about locking, just lately. Maybe just fit solenoid.

Ran engine up to 55mph on speedo in 2nd gear a couple of times, prolly about 4600rpm I'm guessing. 110kmh on GPS. No valve bounce now and plenty left. Fuel use was on par with Roger's 186 wagon, which has more load. Engine is still loosening up and I've been varying the speed. Also carrying a bit of weight.
Wiring loom will have to come out when I get home. Will patch things up in the meantime.

Rear end was creaking so had a look and housing was rotating about 3degrees, so tightened up the u bolts. Played with the speedo but still not working. Rare Spares warehouse in Brisbane has stock.
