Well Im getting stuck into the EK,
I have a list of everything I will be doing to it and it all started today!

Engine:
We actually ripped it apart this morning

Looks like a gasser!

Plan is to rebuild the engine with twin carbs and a trimatic.
The rocker cover will be polished as well as the carb manifold and various bits will be chromed.

We are putting in a new radiator and fuel tank, as well as getting it all properly wired (very dodgy job whoever did it before).

Wheels:
I pretty much just have to roll my guards, I will get the Hustlers Polished and put on a set of white band tyres. Will also make up some bullet center caps.

Image

Suspension:
Well it will be interesting. Baggin the ass end of an EK is quite simple, if I choose to do it, it will be an air over leaf set up. This is a picture of an HR Holden, and the picture of the boot is one in an EK.

If I decide not to bag it, I will be re setting the leaf springs so the guard line sits about an inch off the rim.

Interior:
Will be pretty much like this:
Image

Will have a fury headliner and white bandana print on the top half of the doors and on the seatcovers. Kick Panels which will also be under the dash (hide wiring etc) Green neons under dash. My boot will look like the one pictured below.

Image

Body:
Pretty much need to cut rust out of a dogleg, sils, windscreens and bonnet. Fix cracks on the boot, RR door, bonnet and a bit on the left guard.

Fix a few dings, shave door handels, debadge, then paint.

Might alter the grille - if no one minds me stealing this design!
probably will do the billet grille, maybe not double indicators
Image

If too many areas are $*#@ up then I will just repaint the whole car (most likely a different lime green) add some scollops and pinstriping and the cars done!

tis....
can not be bothered with putting the HR front end in it though
plus it will make the EK cooler having an original engine, if someone wants to restore it one day they can!

Might sell the Hydro - sure il get some $$$ outta that!

Don't need an HR front end to put a red in - both out EK and FB had reds on kingpin front ends. Should be able to sell the hydo no worries - can spend the cash on some red motor engine mounts

Nice work J,

Keep the pic's coming, the pic you have shown up for painting is awesome.... not to far off a scheme of mine however no kermits would be harmed in the making of mine....ahhh when i get there, still gotta tidy the HQ up first,

There was an article in Australian Street Rodding a while back which had a grey motor with triple mechanical injkection (off memory) and electric ignition was pretty cool had the power of a 161 (i think) in the end, i sent the article to burnsy when he still had the car if your interested i can try and find it again.

Cheers

yep well relating to that topic.....

yesterday we took off the hydromatic and stripped down the block.
It had a blown head gasket and water was getting to the pistons, there were various other problems like a floating camshaft hitting things and one of the rockers had a snapped bolt :|

Next week we are taking the engine out to get honed out and cleaned up. Getting various parts polished and the electrician will be out on Wednesday to fix up my wiring!

Probably get it back a week later and rebuild it. It might be done for my birthday! or maybe the weekend after, i dont mind as long as it looks and sounds good!
