Thanks Thommo. I got it all running again today. My eyes are still watering from the burnt methanol.
It was probably the Last skiff built by Frank Lewis before he was killed. Its completely unrestored. It won three major championships including the Whisky Cup.
It has a top speed of around 75mph which isnt bad for a 144 Falcon. Im also taking it to the all &*#@ Day at Eastern creek on the 25th.
Cant wait to run it again on the weekend. I hope I dont hurt anything.

Here is a link to another racer Im restoring. This one built in 1929. Im well into the project and hope to have it in the water October for the wooden boat festival at Darling harbour.

You have wwwaaaayyyy to many toys Dave
I have also seen that "collectors" program that was done on your boats.
That is a very impressive collection indeed
Does the CWPBA come out to play in SA anywhere anytime?
I would definatly go for a squizz.
Cheers
Jeff

Yeah Thommo. Way too much stuff. My collecting is way out of control. Ive been going at it for over 30 years. Last year I got robbed twice which shut the door to people coming to see it all. I try and get one or two things of my own done a year and then I have to deal with keeping evrything else going.
My Skiff ran real hard yesterday and the best bit is I brought it home still in one piece and running. That achievement for me is nothing short of a miracle.
I took my mates 16 year old kid for a run. He shit himself but Im confident I have just ruined his life.
Coming from a boat racing family he will no doubt drive his old man nuts to get another race boat.

I just picked up this great old grey holden powered stepped hydro. Up until last year it had been in a boat house at Port Hacking since 1951. The boat regularly raced at Deepwater. St George and Port hacking. Tommorrow Im going to get it going and hopefully give it a run.
The guy I bought it off did some work to it to make it look better. Eventually Ill undo all that stuff as its not correct.
The grey engine is a real low number.
If I could email a pic to someone could they post it up for me? Dave

Thanks for putting the pic up Mick Jagger. I got it running today but it had a miss in it so I didnt waste my time down the river. One of the carbs is playing up. The plunger jet and hole is blocked. I couldnt unblock the small hole so I might get another carb.
Its amazing whats still around.
