finally got my hubcaps from Johns Rod & Kustom, should have got them from the U.S. would have got them sooner and saved some $$$. now its at the panel shop getting the front damage fixed, aerial, bonnet bird and badges shaved, interior parts and fender skirts painted.
does anyone have a tailgate handle and key i could buy?
You've got great taste there! Can't beat red rims, whitewalls and full hubbies - but - I could be a little biased! (Same look but the Hollywood Flipper version on both of my FE's!)
sorry mate can't help you out with a handle or key but will say the van is looking good minus the tooth ache!
i would leave the skirts off to be honest, show off them wheels they look tops woth the caps, and even though i'm not a fan of the bonnet bird might look ok with everything else shaved or go a get it louvred instead that would be cool!
post some nice pics once shes all fixed i need some new wallpapers...

hey nosferatu where can i see pics of your rides?
thanks NoMAD, i'm getting rid of the bonnet bird. i already have the skirts so i'll get them painted and see how it looks.
i photoshoped a pic of the van and i don't mind it, as long as i can get the back low enough it should look alright.
Hey Ben, I have a handle but no key! easy to get one cut.
I'll trade ya for the skirts if they're not to your liking!
I didn't like em on my van but the Wagoon!!!youwooh!!!
OH! I'm chasing a bird as well!
Cheers Theo Z.....................

Here's a link to the dark side - http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.ph ... 040.0.html - I think there's some shots of my sedan on here somewhere from a few years back though
Re the hubbies - we bought both sets of 14's through Go Kat Go in the states. But I understand someone is now selling 13, 14 & 15's on Oz Ebay for pretty good prices too.
Little tip - if you haven't already got them, use some larger valve stem caps (eg dice, 8 ball, moone eyes). They help to stop the hubbies from rotating and covering up the valve stem - for some unknown reason (especially the front passenger side) the hubbie likes to rotate on both my cars! And yet they've never come off - go figure!
It's a nice look overall ATM - but I'm sure you'll get it looking exactly how you want it with time.
yeah there's a guy on ebay has them for around a hundred a set god knows why anybody would buy from johns his prices are ridikulous
ohh by the way van looks tops and will only look better with all that unnessicary crap gone i'm with theo on the skirts though i find that all that panel with no side windows looks to big with skirts, but it's not my van so it don't matter what i think

Thanks for the tip Kathi, i'll have to take the 8ball valve caps off the wife's pram, it has whitewalls so i fitted 8balls and was thinking of moon caps for it. your fe's are beautiful and the stories were a great read.
i was going to drop the front lower till i noticed the sway bar is only 100mm off the ground already, i can lift it an inch if the exhaust is lifted, its a bit of effort for 1", the back will go down about 3inches once it's engineered

when i picked up the van from vic i went to John's and asked for the caps, i wanted to drive home with them on to hide the commodore rims and they happily took my money and gave me a couple of other things i ordered and then told me the caps would be a couple of weeks, at the time i couldn't find them elsewhere in oz. i also thought they might be better quality but when i finally got them i noticed the taiwan sticker on the back of them. at least i got to try them on before i bought them so i could see how they would look.

I dunno, I've bought alot from him over the years and his prices are far better than any other Australian based rod/speed shop. Just bought my latest caps for the roadster and got them cheaper than getting them in from the US myself.... The other plus side is if the product aint right its far easier exchanging it locally than shipping o.s. A problem a mate had with his "cheaper" US sourced one. Ended up costing him more than a locally bought one.
Leadsled the vans looking good.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

hey Theo, what type of skirts did you put on your van?
will you sell the handle? i think i'll keep the skirts, thinking i might shave the tailgate handle once i figure out how to make it work, (closing the tailgate requires turning the handle and pushing on each lower corner, so solenoids might be good for opening but closing could be an issue).
