I'm back!!

Post by V8EK4us »

Hi all............I am finally back on the real job...BLOODY WORK!!

I have made the rotisseries and will be setting the shell up on them next week. Image

I have also picked up a 3rd EK! very sweet and will be restored after V8EK4US is finished. Even though I have been flat out with work we still intend on having her at the Nationals in Bendigo (better pull me finger out!! hey)  Image
The new car is a goer, just needs some TLC.........

I have finally got hold of a HR frontend, thanks to Ian Campbell (Classic Holden Club NT). Image

Have also been busy getting the "Tow vehicle" sorted, I know its not an FB- EK  but some might apretiate the pic..... I did the conversion in the shed..... it's an EFI V8 from an SS commodore... coupled to a Turbo 700 and adapted to the Full time 4WD transfer case of the cruiser! Sit on 100kph at 1850rpm and uses less fuel than the old diesel (if you can control the right foot!!) I made up the 75mm alloy air itake to connect the original snorkel to the modified SS air cleaner.[/img]Image

I have also decided to run with full air suspension with computer controlled ride heights....... I will keep the pics flowing when we get the ol' girl mounted on the rotisseries.

cheers :D

I love cruisers. I rekon I sometimes have more fun in the bush in our 60 series than cruising in the fb   :)

Final strip now that tubbing is finished and rear chassis rails are welded back in place (220mm narrower).
Image

When the remaining bits are stripped it will be set up on the rotisserie for FINAL ROASTING!!
:D :D :D
Image

I left the motor/trans and complete front end in place while the rear end was tubbed 220mm........... Things should move a lot quicker (wishful thinking!!) now that the rear end is squared up and welded back together so it is not like a LIMP NOODLE!!

Image

Here is a pic of the completed rotisseries ....... they are indexed to lock at 45 degree intervals, I also made the centre section adjustable for height so it will fit any car and you can set it at the height you are comfortable with. :D

Image

I painted them with good old Hammer tone. Rotators are fitted with grease nipples for easy rotation when loaded.

Front clip, inner guards fire wall etc will have all holes filled as the wiring will be completely consealed, remote brake booster will be located under the front guard. 8)

Image

Image

Here is a pic of the lower rotisserie at the back .... just have to make the brackets to secure it, raise it, and of we go! :D :D :D

Image

Will be pre-fitting 4 link and air suspension while she is on the rotisserie as it will be easier to do the welding rather than overhead.....

cheers :D :D :D

She up on the rotisserie...........YEHAA!!! works like a bought one too!! The front is attached to the original bonnet hinge mounting points and the rear is fixed to the "new" cross member.......here are some pics.

Image

This will make the under body mods soooooo much easier!! and setting up the 4 link and air bags should be reasonably easy.... (wishful thinking or a load of Bull s__t!) 8) 8)

Rear mounts -

Front mounts -

Grease nipples on rotators to make it easier to turn -
Image

The old part of the rear sub chassis will be removed from the still and floor, a new section will be made and welded in further forward so it all lines up as per stock (just will end up longer) to make it look "original" with a difference!
Image

This is the under side of the section added in to help beef up the rear end and will eventually (hopefully) assist in setting up and mounting the Alloy fuel tank, this will be fully welded into place. There are other cross members and a full CRS chassis kit going in to make sure the blown SB doesn't twist the body!

    I still can't believe she is actually progressing!!!! :D :D :D

Cheers - gotta get back to the shed!!

not sure if the crs chassis will work with the narrowed rear chassis, but with yor skills you could do yor own for probably less than one costs to buy anyway

if you want pics of one i have one here out of the car

Thanks for the post Ratbox, trouble is that I already have the full CRS kit. No major dramas, it will fit it will just end up "slightly modified"

I got the kit before I decided on the 220mm tub........ anyway will be all good in the end  .
I have many (too many!) ideas running through my head now that the project is back on track, who knows where this will end?????  Got to keep reminding myself to take pics and post 'em!!

Its great to check out all the guys (and girls!) rides on the forum ......... breeds drive and enthusiasm like wild fire, I envy all of the members cars and only hope that "V8EK4US" will reach the same heights! :D :D

Cheers
