hey steve
it looks amazing like that but i'm not to familiar painting cars so i couldnt tell you to cut or not to cut...
by the way may wagon is costing the same... ( bare metal respray in 2 pack inside & out)...
so it sound like the going rate... just like everything else prices are going up so do the painters cost they need to cover themselves as well... aslo you would like to think that you pay for what you get...
looks good

Hey Steve,
The car looks great and the price is definately fair.
I owned a smash shop for 13 years and the material costs are a killer. We used to quote as most would on how much work was needed to go into it. Our average price full bare metal respray in 2 pack would be anywhere from $8,000 to $12,000.
Its hard to tell from photos but the finish on your car looks very good. As far a buffing goes, its up to you what type of finish you want. If their not going to buff it the price should be reduced some as there is quite a few hours work in buffing to get a top finish. Also if you are going to get them to buff it, don't be concerned about machine buffing as any painter worth their money can get a mirror finish without swirl marks with a buff. The only hand polishing needed would be in corners where the buff can't get to and for a final wax.
I just went over my material costs for my yellow nightmare and I was surprised also. For sandpapers, thinners, primers, and 2 pack top coat for the yellow only was around the $2500.
Keep us posted on the updates
Cheers

Thanks SCK, it does look the part as is! I am not looking for that mirror shine.
Hey Matty, can't wait to see your paint job when it's finished. I am only have the outside done + the engine bay & boot.
Hi Malcolm, I appreciate you comments here, when you have been there & done that. I really like Sam's work. He is a perfectionist. He has worked so hard to get this car looking authentic. Can't wait to pick the car up in a week or two.
