Just a question. I notice that a lot of people who convert three piece bumpers to one piece, paint them rather than re chroming. Is this because it's difficult to weld them up to a standard suitable for chroming? I'm considering going the one piece way, but definitely want chrome.

Nice ute too, by the way  I

i think it's a cost thing mainly (would be in my case anyway) i know i looked into it once and the place said they would do it (weld it togeather) actually said they would prefer they did it and would affect waranty if i did it, prices have changed alot also i remember being quoted $500ish last time i asked it was $1100

Thanks Mick. I'd agree - $1,100 is a ridiculous amount of money for that.

i spent 2 weeks solid on and off on my front bumper alone
welded it up also went to the effort of taking the seem out from the inside
so when you looked from under neath you couldnt see it was ever 3 pieces
now i got that thing straight was some of the best work i ever did
long story short
i gave it to my chrome plater with instructions on
TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS YOU WANT
CHARGE ME WHAT YOU WANT
JUST DONT $*#@ IT UP
its not like i can order another one from gmh
3 weeks latter i pick up the bumper
my son could ride motocross on
was so pissed off it left me no option but to do major body work on and paint it :(
Image
one day il get in the mood to do another

All Completed & registered and been on it's first outing. Drove like a new one (those wipers weren't the best in a heavy downpour though)

When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Thanks for all your comments Guys. Really appreciate it. Makes all the hard work worthwhile.

I thought I could now rest but the clutch went on the EH yesterday. So back on the tools again
