Hi Guys,

Some correct answers from you.
Badge 1 & 4 came from the guys in R & D.
Badge 2 is an old original From Dads spare parts dept
Badge 3 original NOS

I've sent the R & D guys away to do some more work. I'll see how they go.......

Regards
Stephen

Great stuff. I have a broken one I am thinking of getting repaired but would be interested in having a look at one of their "experimental models".

Hi Stephen;
I'm thinking of doing the same light setup that you have done on your ute with those LEDs for my FC Sedan could you tell me how you wired them up.

The ones I am looking at on Ebay have 6 lights and are 6 inches wide yours look like they have only 3 lights are you able to post the link to ebay? (I don't know how :whistlinggg: )

Did you run separate wiring and switch so you can turn them on and off without the headlight switch or did you connect them into the high beam wiring .

G'day Neil,

Here is the link to the ones I purchased off eBay. Approx 85 mm long x 30 mm high and three LED in each unit. I had to re tap the small threads at each end to mount the little bracket but they are great and the price is good too.

I wired them off the feed to the wiper motor which means they are fused protected and operate whenever the ignition is in the "on" position regardless of whether the lights are on. If you wanted them to go off when the headlights are on you'd need to run the LED wiring through the normally closed contacts of a relay. When the relay coil is energised by the headlights it would open the relay contacts and drop off the LED lights.

Hope this helps

Stephen

G'day Folks,
A few months ago I spotted an advert on Gumtree to wreck an EK ute. Made contact for a few bits I didn't need and his prices seemed reasonable. I had a look and it turns out the car had been bought from a cocky out past Tailem Bend SA Way by a scrappy who in turn sold it to this chap as a garden ornament!

He didn't want to sell anything from the outside that would have the car loose its identity, which is a shame for me. I went back 3 months later to buy the motor and gearbox. By this stage he had turned the car into a planter box and I was unable to salvage the wiper motor or voltage regulator which I wanted. I did manage to get a few internal bits, radiator along with the motor. The motor turns over but who knows if it will run? Now I need to find a place for that somewhere?

Just a bit more junk to keep. He was very helpful and glad that the bits were going to keep another old Holden on the road for a bit longer......... I hope.

Regards
Stephen

Hi Stephen
Good to hear you rescued something from the philistine. That shot with the loader over the back of your ute had me thinking you were turning it into a planter for a brief instant!
Cheers

Thanks Clay,
A bit warm but a good day with a plenty of nice cars there, although I gave the dunny doors (aka Commondoors a miss). A bit modern for me!

Stephen

Hey Lindsay,
I used carpet to save my polished timber floor when picking up the spare motor which did the job. I'll get the guys from R&D to send you a PM as they have been busy working on some projects in the shed.

Stephen

Hi Folks,

Been a while since I've had access to the R&D Team but they have knocked up another iteration of their work. This one is spoken for but I will send them off to try another avenue if time permits. Unfortunately other priorities seem to get in the way!

Stephen
