Wayne with Adelaide 1961 FB

Got a quote yesterday from Austec Dry Stripping at Chipping Norton for around $4000 to blast the lot.
He wants to include the running gear as well, said it would be cheaper that way.
Anyone got any thoughts on this...

Today we started tearing the FB apart for blasting in the new year.
Saved as many bolts and nuts as we could, bugger of a job.
You can follow the pics.

Check out the rusted bolt holding the front bumper on!



Removed the drivers side and the passenger side just fell off!



Rusted bracket (you seeing this Allison)



Finally it's off



Accident damage on the passenger side repaired by a one eyed panelbeater..



Grinding off the bolts holding the tow bar on





Removing the towbar



It's off!



That piece off crap caused no end of problems



Bumpers off taillights can come off now



One clean piece of arse!



Fuel tank next, removing the sender leads



Draining the fuel tank.



3/4 Bucket of SUPER anyone? yes real SUPER!



Disconnecting the fuel line

Out with the fuel tank



Empty space



Fuel tank looks buggered have to check if it holds presure



First look at the brakes, Bearings buggered on this one



Brakes ok, hope to get away with some kits for them.

At least it has not been buggered around with by people with weird re-wiring & the like.

If you are needing to get the wheel cylinders re-sleeved, which is a very good idea anyway as most are rooted or on their way out, we used a top bloke in Lidcombe who doesn't rip you off. He charged $55 per cylinder which comprised of machining and stainless sleeving, zinc plating of the cylinder body and all associated parts including adjusters and re-kitted (just refit them) - Peter at Automotive Brake Reconditioning 97484944. Bebco 96442888 for new hoses.

Easy.

Check out the wavely support bar behind the grill, lucky I have a good one!



Been using this to remove the rusty bolt and nuts, works well but I think the 30 second claim is a bit much.

Had to wait for some specialized tools to arrive as well.
