You'd have to be unlucky to snap a tail shaft with a grey motor

someone probably just pinched it for parts

Nice work Davo
Just remember to keep taking lots of pics of where & how things go together,
and to label and store the parts properly so they/you dont get lost, when its time to go back on.
Cheers
Jeff

thanks yeah i allways take pics of everything i do to any cars. we been bagging and labeling where bolts when and screws. we just need to get few more tools i only own metric sockets and spanners only got a imperial spanner set so that's getting a good work out now. need some ratchet spanners and impact drives.
i used to be a mechanic so i tend to always put thing in order they came off, also is good because i took apart a Grey motor and put it back together it ran again.

dads mate son come around to help he always wants to take stuff off, so we let him take the radiator off even, though we want to get the rear doors off, he just has a problem of leaving all my good tools laying around and i cant find them grrrrr. think dads plan is get all the panels off and lights. then look at the front see what repairs need to be done.

that is true, there is a lot of surface rust on it. but any bad spot's we will fix up as we go along, only bad part is dad mates kid tends to strip bolts and screws and makes it very hard to get them out. on plus side i got some impact drives today (: makes it a lot easier to get them big screws out. we are hoping we will get the rear doors off and rear bumper and and guards off very soon if it all goes to plan.

Just a tip, the rear panels don't come off unless you cut them off
