Enough for today. Soaking the cork gear shift gasket over night. Yes Rob, there is a bit of rust sheen on those teeth, but they are all there and they are all I have and I think they will ride up with wear. The bearing was rough and worn so had to replace and Harv is confident single rower will be fine for a 'gazillion miles' or similar. That should work.
Lucky I had an old GMH kit as well as Rares as the circlip on the clutch/input shaft snapped getting it off and the Rares kit does not include that one.

No mystery Clay. Put together by peeps originally so can be pulled apart and reassembled by other peeps later. Harv's notes are very thorough and make it a step by step process. Hardest part is the circlips I reckon. Has made me think about whether my current pliers are ready to be replaced.

Finish tomorrow and splash some paint. I think its engine grey colour?

Back together and paint splashed. Seems to be working, only time will tell. Filled and re-drilled change levers to restore worn holes.
New clutch, pressure plate, thrust bearing, new tailshaft yoke coming and then it and new unis will finish Wilma's complete mechanical rejuvenation.

Rub, rub, rub. Working on passenger side front guard early and late in the day. It's a bit hot in the shed currently. Headlight peak, rear bottom corner and rear top rust repairs and a few scattered cracks to weld. Every guard seems to be the sameImage. Got one annoying dent right on the headlight end of the line stamping that will have to be tapped out, and a few minor discrepancies still to sort, but pretty close.Image
Am hoping driver's side guard will be simpler- but probably won't be. Image

Brett that is awsome to get the gearbox apart and back together again. Seems like a successful operation.

Harv would it be ok if I got hold of your notes so I can do the same job?

Just starting on Wilma's bootlid. I want to scrape off the tar and redo as I know there is rust underneath. From factory, was the tar painted body colour or left untouched? Similarly, was inside of rear guards sound deadener left black or body colour?

Hi Brett,

My car boot was the same as the body colour and the rear wheel arches were left black. Mine was a factory car with no mods when I first got it 36 years ago !!!

That depended on assembly plant. In Woodville Adelaide firewalls were painted body colour. Other plants I believe same colour as dash, clunker grey. Subframes black or clinker grey to match firewalls I believe.
