Nothing will be going into the car that cannot be engineered... If it doesnt pass. We'll put the std hr front back in an order wheels to suit :)

Interesting post about the crossmember.

I have a question, was speaking to Theo (Thropzed i think its spelt) quite a while ago about lowering an EK/FB while retaining the full suspension travel by shortening the mounts on the crossmember that bolt it to the subframe. I was looking at it a while ago and if you made it so that it bolts almost flush onto the crossmember, instead of however (3" roughly perhaps?) tall the mounts are it would lower the car while keeping full suspension travel.

Does anyone know if that is legal / heard of anyone doing that before?

yes i've done it a number of times, this one had the mounts droped + drop stubbs + cut springs went over a dip in the road and ripped the steering off :shock:

If you put larger wheels like say 22s on it ,it would be a different story :D

this one never went on the rotissery, did plenty of carefull miles and one day dip bump bang steering wheel ripped out of my hand and not very responsive when i got back hold of it :shock: got it home it had broken the the 2 bolts that hold the idler arm to the subframe

quite alot if you've seen under an FB/EK the lower it gets the closer the steering gets to the ground and by lowering the mounts it lifts the crossmember up and the steering components stay in original position thus are far moer exposed to objects on the road or as in my case poor condition of the road
somebody asked if it had been done i answered as i've done it :?

what do yor stoopid comments have to do with lowering the crossmember mounts :roll: :roll: :roll:

Wouldnt it have snapped from the excess pressure on the idler arm and steering box mounts ( the bolts ) because after you lowered the cross member mounts they were twising in a sliughtly diff direction and adding pressure to the mounting spots?

Probably wouldnt effect non steering box type set ups. But anything with a sterring box it may?.. Without looking at a car or anything, just an assumption.

because he realised the dangerouseness and used a rack to counteract the hemispherical volume of the poofel valve during pivot twist :)
