Played around shortening front spacer tubes for a bit more caster, without achieving very much. About 5mm at the snout, eqivalent to 0.6* in theory. Quick measure doesn’t show much improvement.

Sounds like you’re learning a lot about setting up the cars front end Clay as you go. Once you have it sorted I reckon this would make for an ideal club show & tell “Spanner Day”.

Hoping your learnings would also apply to the original king pin Holden front end?

Most members I speak to think wheel alignment means setting up toe in Stephen. You’re correct that the same principles apply to king pin fronts.

Next step would be to space out between the crossmember and subframe at the rear mounts. The front rubbers can only allow so much compression.

Decided to cut out the divider and run this 1” super sucker. Image
Now trying to decide whether to run 2” phenolic spacer also, partly for insulation. The super sucker is aluminium. If if thought a bit harder I could have got a phenolic one. There is plenty of room. I just need longer studs.

Got the saddle off and spaced it up 15mm to take the clearance out of the rubber. Image

In the process of tilting the crossmember, the booster, coolant reservoir, washer bottle and trans cooler all had to be unfastened. I managed to dislocate one of the saddle bolts inside the subframe temporarily as well. This better be worth the effort, thinks.

On a very short test run steering definitely feels heavier now, so I will revisit the alignment to try and even up the caster side to side and also get the camber to -1*. Not a real hard job with the hoist and the previous experience.

The reason the test run was short, phone rang on Bluetooth, but I couldn’t find it. Nek minnit cornering and something falls out under car. Hello, better take a look.Image
Lucky it’s got a cheap hard case on it with a clear screen cover. Screen is all broken but still seems to work. YouTube time.

Added 1/32” shim (I think) to driver side which seems to have reduced caster but not much effect on camber. I’ll see how it drives, after I get the 390 on. Image
Matching up the bosses on the new manifold. Image
Near 2mm off the front runner, both sides. Never would have sealed.

Holley blue askers are supposed to be multi-reusable Image
Of course one of the needle and seat valves stuck, in the secondary bowl, so fuel cascading out the vent on the electric pump. This even though I flushed 150ml through the lines.

Good news, got it started, but $*#@!Image
Dribbling fuel out the primary centre rings. Black soot out the zorst.
