I had a problem with my L67 Monaro a week or so ago and bought a new toy to help fault find, turned out to be a dead coil, this is the cheats way to test

thought I would check Franks, I had a video to show how they light up as the coil fires but I don't know what format it is in

I think I'm going to move on to outer sills next and get them sorted.

Funny enough I have to say that the Rare Spares sills didn’t impress me this time, I used them on my Ute but this time the curve to the bend/ flat were the kick panel goes seems to be too tight, I had to open it up to get the bottom to go under the inner sill and the top to line up with the floor.
I know I’m complaining but I suppose at least we have something, it’s better than nothing I suppose.
Started fitting the drivers side, same as passenger but I’ll make it fit.

Yeah, great work Neil.
The sills are strange, i had 2 NOS ones and they were slightly different to each other.
The theory was the people assembling the bodies would use the best fitting parts for each vehicle and the stockpile at the end is now what we have as NOS.
The bodies are all over the shop from the factory as well. No problem with the metal fab skills you have though.

I got the drivers side sill tacked in today and have realised the sills don’t have any of the original slight curve front to back, it took a bit of manipulation, read here BFH, to get it to fit.

For a while now I have been wanting L67 Supercharged V6 and 4L60E auto to put into the Reverend, my brother keep telling me to do something more modern that what I have done before.
Being a cheapskate, being on a budget and not wanting to pay the $2500 to $3000 being sked for them I had resolved myself to using the VR engine that I already had, the other thing was that most of the ones for sale would not have all the accessories i.e. coils, starter motor or engine wiring.
Well I have come across an L67 complete with gearbox, all wiring and accessories for $1000 so I pulled the trigger and jumped on it.

The only thing that has me a little worried is that the supercharger pulley has been upgraded that I can see in the photo, on my VY L67 Monaro the pulley is not bolted like this on in the photo is.
I was going to go through and freshen up the engine anyway but with the pulley having been upgraded it may have had a little hard of a life

Have you spoken to your engineer about an L67 conversion ? There was a bloke - BAT53 on the forum - who used to do heaps of them but then VSB14 put a stop to it ......

If over 1000kgs in standard trim then,
Original mass (kg) x 3.00
= max. capacity in cc.
But an engineer can overide it if they have the balls.
Greg
Yeah , FB sedan is 1120kg, x 3 = 3360cc so my supercharged 202 JJJUUUUUSSSSTTTTTT scrapes in - dunno how you would go with a 3800cc ???? BAT53 was building one after the other for customers then just stopped when they started enforcing VSB14

Those NCOP rules will break your heart. Some engineers are fastidious, others more practicable. YRMV.
From wagon, as the vehicle originally weighs more than 1100kg and is proposed to be naturally aspirated, the recommended maximum engine capacity is (1129.4 x 5.0 =) 5647cc. Two engine options were considered:
1. 327ci engine. With a bore and stroke of 4.000 inches and 3.25 inches respectively, this engine has a capacity of 5357cc, being 5% smaller than the recommended maximum engine capacity noted above.
2. 350ci engine. With a bore and stroke of 4.000 inches and 3.48 inches respectively, this engine has a capacity of 5733cc, being 1.5% larger than the recommended maximum engine capacity noted above.
I tried to get a 350 over the line, but failed through both the original engineer I had and the one who replaced him.... even for 1.5%.
The bogan part of me then considered that there is no way to tell whether a 327 has a 350 (or stroker) crank in it, and it could readily be closer to 400ci and look the same. My conscience got the better of me, and I went for a 327. Glad I did... one of the inspection items was to check engine capacity. Engineer wanted a head removed and stroke and bore checked. Because I had the build sheet and he knew the builder, he chose not to remove a head.
There was light at the end of the tunnel. I could have ANY engine capacity I wanted, provided I submitted to a beam test. $4,000 for the test, and no guarantee that it would not flex, even with the 3/4 chassis. I chickened out, and the 327 went in.
Cheers,
Harv
