Raining today and can't do anything too strenuous with Wilma right there in the shed hiding from the weather.

Hey Brett tailgate hinge bolts holes are the same the only difference between the two model tailgates is where the spring loaded lock mechanism is on either side of the tailgate, the FE/FC has 4 holes and the FB/EK has 2.
I only found this out because I purchased a really nice tailgate from a gentlemen in NSW and then had to purchase FC bits to complete it as my EK bits wouldn't bolt in.
It's the tailgate that is on Frankenstein now.

Thanks Neil. Good to know. I think I have enough EK tailgate wreckage to make a good one so won't be playing with the FC one.

Looks like the fuel tank is going to need a patch or 2

After a complete vivisection of 'old rusty' today, it seems that the only bits coming off the upturned FC rear are going to be the panels between the tail lights around the spare wheel door. Pleasant surprise with the condition of the rails and fuel tank surround off 'old rusty' - plenty good enough to go into this job.
As for the fuel tank, the one out of the black ute will swap into Fred and a shiny new stainless one will go into the black ute.
Raining now, so all work has to stop so Wilma doesn't get wet.

Well Patrick, I'm pretty sure it's wet now Wilma, however, is not inclined to be wet. It's a thing.

What have ute restorers done about the rubber spacer that goes between the back rear quarter panel and the floor section behind the tail lights?
You know the one- its covered in tar and encourages rust.

Just left it as it was fairly good. I did mastic up any vent to below floor, and mastic tonneau panels prior to screwing down.

Me too. Made sure the two drain tubes that run through the underfloor space were clear though.

Thanks Clay, Harv. It's going to get a bit tricky with that rubber. I'm going to have to take it out as there will be lots of welding going on. Presume it was put on before quarter panel was attached.
