I am doing that 70's look rat :o
I've never been one to follow current trends.
No flat paint, red rims, whitewalls, pinstripes, mexician blankets or any thing else
associated with that look.
I know how to lower a car, look at my other one.
I have 14" chromies for the front that I'm just waiting for the tyres to turn up.
They will put those rear wheels back into proportion.
The ride height will be adjusted after all the weight is is the car and
I can see where it wants to sit.
It will be raked, but not over done, it will be lower, but not that low.
It will be mine, done how I want to see one done,
different to what most people are doing at the moment.

Thanks for all the positive comments since I put the pics up
I'm really happy with the shape of it.
I cant thank Len Vodic enough for his time & efforts on
the hammer welding to restore this project 8)

Peace Man

I am aiming for low, just not as low as that photoshop job,
and a 'little' higher at the back than the front.
NO it wont have a red or yellow diff housing hanging out of
a jacked up arse end, just raked a little.

wasn't telling you how to do it just my opinion :? some of you would never make it as artists you get to cut at a little constructive crittisim
so i guess yor having a shot at me for following trends? i seem to remember you asking about flat paint at one stage :?
when i started painting cars flat the only other one i can remember was victor brays '57 not that there weren't others, red wheels i hate thin white walls i've always liked, pinstripping i've always liked, mexican blankets well thats just the best option for a ripped seat if you can tell me a better option besides trimming it i'll listen
it is YORS do it how YOU like, but IF you don't want it critisized cause everybody isn't going to like how you did it best not put pictures up where it MIGHT get critisized
REMEMBER this is all just MY opinion i've never been keen on cars that have mixed styles

Alwasys happy to hear an opinion

No cuts here, just explaining where I was coming from.
ratbox wrote:so i guess yor having a shot at me for following trends? i seem to remember you asking about flat paint at one stage :?when i started painting cars flat the only other one i can remember was victor brays '57 not that there weren't others,
Rat, we all know your a trendsetter not a follower.
Yes I was thinking of flat black at one stage, I have memories of an EH I used to see as a kid(undercoat black with all trim fitted) long before Victor Bray popularized it.
ratbox wrote:red wheels i hate thin white walls i've always liked, pinstripping i've always liked, mexican blankets well thats just the best option for a ripped seat if you can tell me a better option besides trimming it i'll listen
Wasn't having a go at you here either Rat, I was just expanding on what I considered the current trend is.
ratbox wrote:it is YORS do it how YOU like, but IF you don't want it critisized cause everybody isn't going to like how you did it best not put pictures up where it MIGHT get critisized

It is mine to do what I want with,
I don't know how you get the impression that I'm upset by critisism,
I was only replying to your comments with my opinion.
Not everyone is going to like it I'm sure, I have never seen anything that
everybody likes, everyone has different likes & dislikes, and opinions.
ratbox wrote:REMEMBER this is all just MY opinion i've never been keen on cars that have mixed styles
Rat, I would love to hear your opinion on what you see as mixed styles
on my car.
Its a pet hate of mine as well.

Cheers
Jeff

Your right DR, There were lots like that.
I am just taking styling cues from the era, not a period perfect restoration of one.
Just using 70's era parts that were commen in Australia at the time.

As far as the other look/style I refered to earlier, Its not that I don't like that look,
I just don't want to do mine that way, thats all.
Your candy'd custom looks awesome, Rats Ratbox's are cool,
I just want to reflect an early Australian style.

Trouble is, the FB/EK weren't really a part of the van scene, so
my van is being aimed at, what might have been the look if the van craze
had started earlier in history in our history.

I hope this sheds more of an insight in what I'm shooting at.

Not meaning to offend anyone.....not getting offended by anyones comments.

Cheers Commrades
Jeff
