Even though I am getting 12v at the terminals I was able to isolate the fault to positive feed rather than the button. Horn would work off the button when fed straight from the battery. I fiddled with tge fuse hokder. Seems the lighter was not working either. Now working. Tried the horn and pooted, a start. Adjusted points out and now ...........HORN!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope it lasts.

Have now learnt that early holden horns' official sound is 'poot'. Poot, Poots, Pooted, Pooting.
Who would've known?😁

Poot is when it’s not working properly. Now it honks.

Poot, poots, pooting, pooted. So English verbs have principal parts too, just like do, dare, dedi and datum.

From the Morris Oxford Concise Dictionary:

Poot (verb: to poot, pooted): the small noise made when an early Holden horn tries, yet fails, to work. Occurs only when the device still contains magic smoke. Results in increased fiddling to either achieve honking (see honk) or achieve the state of fully-stuffed (see stuffed). Example: Clay's horn pooted, giving him confidence that it was not yet fully-stuffed.

Cheers,
Harv

I've never had these door pull handles on a car before. I'm thinking to mount them centre to sliding glass aperture half an inch above the trim, thus: Image
