Blacky, yeah it look's like Big Mike has moved and gone all online and likely not shipping to Oz anymore? Danchuk's cheapest shipping was about $US60, which is about 3 times the price of the actual kit.
Mph, agreed, as I mentioned I only used the actual horn contact (with the spring) all the other parts I had from original. It would be good if somebody could trial using the whole kit.
All good I will purchase some anyway because even buying the whole kit just for the contact I think is worth it, as you know the original contact's are becoming increasingly rare

yup , all the other bits are pretty easy to come by , the contact is the only bit that is a wear part so I am happy to pay what they are asking - and the more we buy the cheaper they get to an extent with the shipping costs so may as well buy up and share the costs

We are going to order about a dozen sets once we nut out the best deal on them , won’t be for a few weeks - I will start a thread and whoever wants some can chime in - like we did for the headlight switches

Good luck, but you shouldn’t need it. Outstanding job you’ve done.

1960 FB HOLDEN
“FRANKIE”
Well after 7 long years the old FB is finally finished. There has been a lot of blood, sweat and beers gone into this build (not to mention a truck load of cash as well) but it is finally complete with full road registration. This build was a tribute to the old boy who used to run an old “FB” back in the day and as an added little touch I was able to secure the original number plates that he had on his car back then ‘UHW-186’
There have been so many people that have helped me over the years, some of which, without their help, the car may never have been finished. So I would really like to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to the following people (in no particular order)
• Bruce Sharman from Bygone Spares & Restorations (panel, paint & wiring harness)
• Mark Bone, Bill and all the boys at Mandurah Performance (assembly & a wealth of old Holden knowledge)
• Chris & Kirky from Dickers Speed Shoppe (wiring and all electrics)
• All the team at Rare Spares in Osbourne Park (my second home)
• David from Galloway Engines (full rebuild on the 138 Grey Motor)
• Damien from Early Holden Parts in Warragul Victoria (my “go to guy” for hard to find parts)
• Tony from Prestige Car Upholstery in Rolystone (interior)
• Blacky & Sarge from the FB/EK Car Club (parts, support and knowledge)
• The FB/EK Car Club Members Forum (unbelievable amount of support and knowledge)
• Tim from Pinjarra Powder Coating
• Lastly but most importantly my amazing “wife to be” for her unconditional support through the high’s and low’s over the years and for letting me spend every spare cent we had on car parts. Thanks Nessy J
Oh and thanks to the State Government for the stamp duty bill
Right, now that’s finished, what’s the next project?

excellent restoration, you could still learn a thing from the old boy about mounting number plates

Wonderful achievement. This car is an inspirational build and is at a standard that for mere mortals like me is beyond reach but something to strive for. Acknowledgements is a nice touch as well. After all the work, you deserve much pleasure with it.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Well done sir
Does the esky still have the bottle opener mounted on one side? As a kid, I pinched my fingers repeatedly in the handle of Dads esky, a brown one like that.
(and don't change the number plate mounting... I reckon it's awesome

)
Cheers,
Harv

Yeah the esky is an old Malleys one I bought off gumtree a couple of years back, still has the little bottle opener on the side.
TBH the number plates are just blue tacked on for the photos. I had just literally picked them up from the Dept of Transport and when I got back home none of the holes on the plates line up with the centre piece of the bumpers. I ran out of time to fit them properly as I had to get to the airport to head back to work.
Can’t believe it’s finally finished though, huge thanks to all on here for all the knowledge and support
