Some minor updates

Last weekend (AUST)mod came over as I finally got my amp wiring kit, so now when cruisin down the strip the whole car rattles and anyone in the back seat gets a massage

Image

I have been doing some small touches:

-got some hinges for my boot floor

-for ratbox I swapped my front and rear speaker around so now my dash doesnt have that big ass speaker hanging out :P
Image

-so I dont have to pop my hood to turn on my neons, I made this switch board which is hidden from view, which will also be accompanied by some illegal horns and possibly some flames

After ages of nagging today I finally made it out to Balcatta Bunnings so I could get some MDF for the boot of my car.

Before we left I ran some chalk where the fanbelt goes on the fan, and after a quick squirt up the street the annoying squealing sound had gone 8) thankyou

We went for a nice drive down the coast where we stopped at Hillary's Boat Harbour for fish n chip's, coincidentally parking just near this fe or fc (what are the differences?)

we were gettin plenty of looks ;)

After lunch we decided to head out to Bunnings, highlight of the day were some girls at a cross walk checkin out my car (in bikini's) and you know I hit that klaxon horn :P

unfortunately no pictures ;)

Also on the way we had an old Pontiac Firebird pull in behind me, cruised with him for a while.

When we got back in the late afternoon I got busy
this is what I started with
Image
Image

I removed the subwoofer from the box so I could trace a circle on the MDF I was using, making it nice and central by ruling a line through the halfway point and using a pencil to trace around the sub.
Image

As I would not be able to get the backing in with one piece (too wide) I cut it in half and cleared part of it from the boot hinges, after matching it with the other side I eventually got the board to sit flat on the subwoofer box where I then screwed it to the box (covered by upholstery later in the week)
Image

I then had to take everything apart to put the sides back in, although I did have to shape the backing boards to allow the sides to sit closer too the floor.

I am happy with the job I did, although it may have been a bit dodgy (suits my character ;)) and I would like the sides closer to the floor, it will all look perfect once I upholster it on Sunday 8)

Here's a cool picture I took

J , thats an FC. The earlier model FE had seperate park lights on the front and a prettier grill - just like the FB/EK , The earlier model FE was better looking than its FC sister

Looking excellent mate. Great Job :) I was worried that you would try and mount the sub to the backing board, and ditch the sub box, but good to see that you didn't go down that route :) WIll look tops with some carpet to hide the joins.

cheers for all the comments guys
will definitely look better with some carpet; and ratbox, I dont know how I am going to make a square inside a square without cutting a line from the big square so I can make a little square... get it?

Today I woke up to do some work on the old girl, WHERE THE F*#& IS IT!?!?!?
Image
:P

after I found it, I kicked mums jappo car out of the garage and replaced it with a priceless piece of australian motoring history (the slowest holden made i believe). This is what my working area looked like. Complete with sharp bits of metal which liked to make love with my foot.

What was I doing you ask?

Most of the chrome looked like this underneath the old position for the over-riders... so a bit of polish and sandpaper and it was as good as new :)
Image

This is just a picture of what I used to hold it all up :P
Image

Anyway, I was done and I took some photo's
only problem was.... I used my bullet nuts on the holes in the bumper... and I didnt have any bolts to hold the rear numberplate on :P
