Still got to paint the guards and bonnet but thanks fellas.
Doors got 1/2 cup of fish oil each with the drain holes taped. Drained out and poured through again.
Fun putting the interior back together. Takes me back. Upside down under the dash fumbling and cursing.

Years of fiddling with sedan and van doors I know all the tricks. I was lucky everything fitted well before I pulled if apart. Reticent to pull them off as I didn't know if I could get them to go back as good as they were. Turned out easy. I didn't adjust the hinges on the body, just left them as they were. The retaining springs are all good, reinforcing my belief the 62,000 miles on the odometer is correct.

Is it just me, or are these FB/EK speedo's crazy? Why did GMH have the 100 and 110 mph figures backwards? I agree, the painted instrument panel does look smart and particularly good this colour. Is that your heater core just showing Clay?

Brett,

Orientation of speedo figures was a decision by the designers way back when. The base of the figures is normally closer to the centre, except where the inclination is more than +/- 90 degrees. That's why 10, 100 and 110 appear upside-down.

Humpy and FE-FC speedos are designed the same way.

GM "fixed" the problem with the HD.

I'll probably just oval the holes a bit each way. I should have done the repair before I drilled the skin. Think I'm going to glue it anyway. That'll be your option 3 I suppose or was that just force it?

It did Brett. Spare door fits better without the seal as the opening lip is a bit close on one side. Keep reminding myself this is just practice for the van. Then I think of all the time and money put in. Then it’s that I want to get it on the road, and can tidy it up later........


FB ute fixer upper, EK van on rotisserie

I adjusted the door and was a lot happier with it, so I fitted the seal. Put the old plate on for effect.
