What I'd like to do is fill the many holes with weld and bog the rest, What I will do is cut it all out and replace it. Battery is in the boot so will delete the drain hole as well.
Gone too far with the rest of this to start taking short cuts now. Good place to practice skills that will never been seen if it's not the best.

Yeah. Bog is no good to fill holes. It always disappoints. Only good for smoothing over, which it is very good at.

...or from my recent experience
had a bit more of a look at the 'patch' today, the two screws were holding:
a strip of aluminium,
a piece of sandpaper, and
a folded envelope

Hey Brett
Great work. Playing catch up on your thread I canβt help but think you are playing a big metal work jig saw kit. You have better mental project planning than me. One bonus is it will be a great car when finished and most importantly it will be OK to have bits left over
Regards
Stephen

Thanks Stephen. I am enjoying the puzzle work so far. No documents in this one Patrick- but many wasp nests!
Finished the top half of the drivers A pillar, bit to do on bottom hinge support, but will do that with sill work. The little rust hole on windscreen corner will be silver soldered shut later as well.
Working out surgery needed on passenger side. There is an added complication of having to repair the water drain well under the dash on this side.

Lots of head scratching this morning. How to make best use of the cut and the logical/practical order of work.
I've learnt to think a lot and do a little.

Hi Drew,
Just on to my 3rd coffee for the morning- trying to get my head around it. Big rust around top hinge mount, so am toying with slicing through level with bottom of hinge hole, straight line across to guard bolt hole and then across to door jam. That cuts out all the rust but is getting pretty extreme with size of piece. So maybe not that way.....
Two pieces or one piece?- less risk of disaster with fit with 2 pieces, less strength and more welding though...
Where are the chocolate digestives???

Bit the bullet and cut my rescue panel into two

. Slowly getting opening ready for windscreen cut. I will take the opportunity to seal up this area against further rust development.
It will all be fine....
