The common sense approach and aspect Ratbox would be to have One National Rego Authority, with one set of rules and COMMON SENSE throughout Australia, then at least everyone is all on par and know where there coming from.

Gday All

Started work on a diff today.
I have a LC & a HR diff to make one out of.
The width of stripped down HR housing is 4ft 3' 1/2"
The narrower stripped down LC housing is 4ft & 3/4"
Total differance = 2' 3/4" or 1' 3/8"per side, approx 35mm
The plan is to cut down the HR diff to LC width, and use the LC axles in it.

I was going to grind off the LC brackets and replace them with the HR spring pads,
but the HR diff housing is in much better condition internally.

I'll have the housing professionally done to ensure correct alignment,
then its just a matter of renewing the brakes & assembling it back together.

I picked up my shortened HR housing during the week.
I've just mocked it up (no diff center & no brakes) & bolted it in
to see the width difference, and if those wheels would be under the gaurds.





It doesn't look to be a lot of difference in these before & after pics,
but the wheel has gone from protruding outside the wheelwell,
to sitting just inside as viewed from above.

Just got to clean & paint the housing & diff center,
renew the brakes, and thats another step closer

I had it made the same size as a LC/LJ Torana diff Trev.

You have the choice of either, grinding all the brackets off both diffs,
then welding the leaf pads onto the Torry diff making sure the pinion angle is correct & the diff is centered properly , or
cutting the ends off (between the spring pad & wheel bearing housing) the HR diff, shorten it by 1' 3/8" then weld the ends back on

The Torry axles then go straight into your new short housing, to easy

Seriously, your chop looks to have great proportions.
4" is a healthy slice & being a two door should really top it off

Nice timing Stinky
My body man Len, was around late last week.
He has managed to free up some time to enable us to get back into it.
Lens a bloke who finds it hard to say to say no to helping mates,
even to the detriment of his own projects.
He has finished some other projects that needed to be done,
and we will be into it this week.

We will light the torch thursday night

Some stuff has been done since the last update,
New wheels, rebuilt auto steering column,
rebuilt shortened diff & collecting of small parts.

Jeez mate, you would have had to dig deep to find this thread
