Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Cold and wet in Adelaide but not too cold to fiddle in the shed. Started restoring my best steering wheel. Few small cracks at the stress points scribed out and filled with upol gold. Sanded and etch primed. Will need a bit of putty and thinking about colour
I was going black as original but thinking to match column.

More fiddling, which I should have done before the hydraulics went in.
Custom upper steering brace. This ute will handle. Can’t wait to trundle it up Old Willunga Hill.
Just need to paint it and bleed the brakes again.
I’m just clear coating it as I like the zincaneal finish. Used 18# same as the heavier sheet metal such as sills and body members.

I was going to say that Clay's bench looks exactly like mine until my wife comes in and starts to tidy it up

Vintage Wiring aren't answering the phone at the moment. Probably can't get out of the driveway with the restrictions. So I decided to run the wiring to the interior light so I can get the head lining in.
Some fancy Ute with door activated light. I ran the switch wires down each A pillar, as well as the power, instead of using the B pillar like it was originally.

Now that I have managed to scrounge 4 decent original rims I've got some Grecian white mixed up in two pack to finish them.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
This is a Protec acrylic urethane with high durability and good gloss off gun. $50 bought me 500ml which I hope will be enough.
Steve Turner at Lonsdale Paints told me to use a 1.4mm aperture at 45psi. This applies to the silver I’ve been using as well, so bought a 1.4mm gun for $44. The 2mm aperture is the likely cause of the runs I was getting with the silver when I did the tank, and also the grille support.
I’ve been running 24psi previously on the larger size gun and according to Steve this could result in poor atomisation, also contributing to the runs with the silver. I’m sure I was told 22-25psi with the 2mm gun but now I’m being told 45psi for this as well. Just need some warmer weather now or create a little Dutch oven in the shed somehow.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Had to buy more hardener but it is the same as the silver, and the reducer is the same as well, which I have plenty of.
I considered body colour for the wheels momentarily but looks dull to me. Red won’t work with the blue like it does with the Montana grey. Black looks good with bare rims but not hubcaps. My opinion.
The Grecian White has a slight blue tint so should work well with the Wedgewood Blue. Come on Huey, let’s have some warm weather please.
