So set out for home this morning via Goulburn. Car going well. Then it jumped out of top. 15 minutes later did it again, only this Time engine started misfiring and popping from the carb. I feared a head gasket but no obvious oil water at this stage. Will run and no bad vibrations but popping and missing and tappet noise toward the rear. Distributor and leads look fine.
Leaning toward a tappet or cam failure. NRMA called.

Number four pot appears to be the issue. Backfiring stops when I remove the lead. Any way Belly to the rescue with car trailer.
