Back on the extractors as every time I go to do a job I either don't have the gear to do what I want or it involves using my 5" but both shat themselves this week . Now just realised that I still haven't picked up the cats and collectors that my mate has for me. Beer o'clock I say.

I decided that the plastic pipe and masking tape were not up to the job so I upgraded to steel pipe and grey duct tape. Once I start tacking it up I will finalise all the gaps for clearance.

One of the most time consuming parts to make in a project !!

Take your time and make sure you clearance everything, its bloody hard in these little engine bays.

I bitch and complain about changing the plugs on my wagon, but damn... that thing is tight!

When the new collectors are in place, does the steering shaft become captive (i.e. have to remove the steering column to remove the steering shaft to remove the headers)? If so, some extra flanges in the primaries may help to split the headers apart and let them free (the flanges would cost you a poofteenth in flow, but not much).

Hi Harv, I can slide the steering shaft out after undoing it top and bottom then take the headers out. Only early days yet still need to work out where the collectors will go etc. At the moment there is about 10mm clearance where required.

Not trying to steal the thread but these are the headers the guy picked up with the 305that I'm putting into his FC Sedan not sure where they came from, who made them, but they fit really well and no cutting inner guards.

I only had to lift the engine up a little to get them in when I installed them as they would not go in from the bottom, of course had to drop out the starter motor and oil filter and seem to be able to get to all the plugs realitively easily.

I would love to know where the came from as would like to fit some to the 307 I have planned for the next project.

Clever work Taz, I think I can appreciate the amount of time that would have gone into the exhaust design, mock up after mock up, and fitting.

Geez, I wish I could fit a hoist in my shed.
