Hi, yes, I am still alive and I have the wagon out of storage and I am putting her through a restoration (I'm the ultimate weekend warrior). I have been lurking on the forum recently (I love this FB Special Project thread). I just realised that I had some private messages from an age ago on here that I had not seen and am just reading now, so I apologise on that front. If anyone's passing down towards Monument Hill in Fremantle on the weekends and wants to stop in and check on my progress, I always have the coffee on, ready for a chat.

Thanks, I'm pulling my headlining out at the moment (a difficult thing to do cleanly), and I am encouraged to see yours looking nice. I will look them up when I am ready.

Another update and another step closer. I have had some wins over the past few weeks but sadly have had a loss that I fear could require major surgery i.e.: front and rear glass removed and remove headlining :crying: :crying:

I used nutserts for the bolts that hold the sun visor in place, although I had never used a nutsert tool before it didn't look that difficult so thought I would give it a crack. The nutserts went in not prob's then proceeded to bolt up the sunvisor, I got the roof brackets mounted no worries but could only get one bolt on the "A" pillars either side. So I unbolted the roof brackets (mistake number 1) and bolted up the the "A" pillar bolts first then proceeded to try and bolt up the roof brackets (mistake number 2). This proved my undoing as the extra stress on the bolts has now caused 3 out of the 6 nutserts to start turning as well :crying:

Option 1: Cut bolts and try to drill out the nutserts, then try to refit? Bearing in mind what could potentially drop into the headlining

Option 2: Remove front and rear glass, remove headlining, drill out and replace with welded nuts on the underside of the roof?

Going to have to bring the experts for this I think

Step 1 - drill out nutserts , don’t let them get too hot - take your time .

Step 2 - buy some rivnuts from a motorcycle shop or epay

Step 3 - fit rivnuts and sun visor

Step 4 - open another chook and admire your handiwork

Love the simplicity of those 4 steps Blacky, hopefully it is that simple πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Option 2 is really not an option, more of an absolute very last resort

Tried retensioning the nutserts with the gun? Then run a tap down them. Anything to avoid the headlining out, although you would get away with just the front screen surely.

I had one fail yesterday due to not having it screwed on the awl enough. Drilled out and refitted no problem. You would want a stop on the drill to avoid piercing the headlining.

Yeah I've kinda put it in the to hard basket at the minute, just going to take a step back, reassess and go again tomorrow. Really hate having to fix stuff ups over fresh paint :gasp: :gasp:

Wipers got new chrome and blades

I don’t think wipers are chrome, just polished stainless, apart from the boss of course, which is cast.
