I'd follow Terry's suggestions, just make sure you go course spline centre. Fine Spline won't fit.

Well i'm now thinkeing about selling the car and buying a later model holden, well when i say later model i will be looking at an HG Wagon!!!

it's completely up to you what you do you have to drive it,
i know if i buy a commodore when i'm looking at it it will be the worst decision i ever made
BUT when i'm driving it it will be one of the best decisions i've made

Well i still have the car and i still want to fix it, but i seem to have no responses in "Parts Wanted" for a diff centre so i thought i might post it here!!!
Have also been thinking about spending a couple of grand and doing the HR front end and Red motor conversion and then change it to a daily driver!!!
Might buy a tradesman trailer and tow it since i'm a builder!!!
Just wondering what you guys think of that thought.....also do you think $2000 would cover it for the conversion?

if you've gotta pay someone to do everything it might be tight
a disk front can run $300-$600, engine free-$500+ if it doesn't have an EH sump another $100ish then there's gearbox and mods to make it fit then the nick naks to get it legal don't know how the engineers work down there but heater, seat belts, odds and sods another couple of hundred, speaking of engineers here in NSW anywhere from $300-$1000+
so doesn't look good
as for yor diff problem i don't think the forum has a great deal of taswegens and from my experiance 3.36 seems to be the hardest ratio to come across

I would be sticking with the standard box and just upgrading the heart and front end!!!
The lack of Tassie folk does frustrate me and makes things quite hard.....but i am happy to pay postage as i have seen them on ebay and postage has been $25.00 Australia wide....so yes you can post them.....which is what was up for discussion in my ad in wanted parts!!!

if you can find yorself a 138 red or a 149 these are a big step up from the gray and if tassie is like NSW you don't need disc brake front or engineers, as long as the welding for the engine mounts is up to scratch
back to the diff a 3.55 will be much easier to find as to post some post offices won't accept them due to weight

I really would like to upgrade to the disk brake front end if i will be driving it daily, and would prefer the 186/202........but cheers for the idea as it might be worth a look in if it isnt a daily!!!
