Well it’s been awhile since updating this post but it has a been a very busy week or so.
I met a guy named Jeff who is on this forum but he doesn’t visit often, he had a couple of bits I needed on a wreck.
Last Sunday I went down to have a pick over it to learn that his plans were to send the wreck to sims metal after I took what I wanted off it.
Pretty much said that I should be happy to act as Sims and take the wreck off him as it had so many parts that I wanted It would be just easier to do it at my house in my own time.
Considering the wreck was a roller I just went and got a trailer and took it home with me all for the cost of a slab of piss.
It has been a blesssing in disguise and I have been kissed on the dick by a an angel as it has so may parts that are actually better than what I currently have!

So once I had that ratty old beast home I concentrated on a executing a long term plan of building a citric acid bath for the bigger underbody components like frame, wish bones, y frame and diff housing.
I am fully de rusting, neutralising with baking sofa and the coating with penetrol all components that I can fit in the bath.
The chosen bath is a 1000ltr IBC container filled with 800ltrs of water mixed with 40 kgs of citric acid granuals.
This makes a 5% citric acid solution that works well over 24 hrs.
I pressure clean off when the components a are pulled from the bath and Ineutralise the acid with a water and baking sofa mix.
A couple of hand fulls of baking soda in a bucket of water is plenty accorto my chemist mate.
I then dry the component with my map gas torch, which works much better then imagined.
When dry I Coat with penetrol and the components come up really quite amazing with a bare metal look.

Once I confirmed the cleaning process worked I went pretty hard stripping the front end off the wreck and compared it to the existing front end off the wagon.
The k frame on the wreck is a beauty so I’ll be using that, he king pins off the wagon are tight so they are a goer and I
L pick and choose the wish bones on the day.
Spent a day ordering relevant parts for the underbody over haul including front king spring, all the pivot bushes, rubbers, tie rods etc.
Dropped the rear springs out to northern spring works to get them overhauled and re set, also ordered new rear shackles, pins and bushes too.
The plan is to have everything in my hand and the end of next week so I can work through the Xmas break and not get caught short.

The wreck you just got reminds me of the Powerhouse Museum's XP Falcon. It (the FB) looks museum-grade to me too . . .

One thing that had me surprised was that nylon Spacer’s were on top of the front coil springs.
The spacers are only 2-3mm thick with 2 spacers over the drIvers aide spring and only 1 spacer over the passenger side spring.
What is you experience with these nylon spacers?

So it’s been a while since I have given an update but the work has been pretty steady.
Spent some time stripping the wreck, having a spare of all the mechanicals has made me feel better about making something work successfully
All the parts I have been removing are all bagged and tagged for easy identification later on

I moved ahead with removing the rest of the interior.
Originally my idea was to leave it in there but there is no way I could clean the body properly with out removing it.
Everyone said the roof lining would fall apart but it has held together. I hope to repair it a bit, clean it and refit it.

I then went bonkers with the high pressure Karcher and gave it a good blast.
Drilled some holes to access the sills and chassis for a clean out, gold I did as everything was full of dirt.
A good couple of cleaning sessions got it to a point where I could really see what the body was like.
Still pretty good but yes a bit more rust to fix

God I thought you had cut up the wagon for a sec there.
I reused the headlining in my sedan with considerable success. Used a donor lining to patch up a few torn bits, mainly C pillar bottoms where the rear seat back had come in and out too many times. Main issue I found is that the material that the wire bows go through tends to rot.
