Good progress the last couple of nights.
Last night we did the upper tailgate.
It had already been cut into three peices, &, an additional top section, &
two bottom of the window corner peices, come with the car.
So we had all the bits we needed.
Image
This shows the misalignment of the window on either side when chopped to fit.
Len is seen here eyeballing the additional corner bits that were added to the
bottom half, to realign the window frame

We got to a point in the roof where it wasn't behaveing how Len liked it,
so he got onto the blower to his good mate Grant Robinson.
Grant is a whizz with sheet metal.
In three hours of dolly work, the roof is shaped & tight.
We have 3 roof bows propped under the roof skin for support.
These will all be widened and welded in next step.

The 3hrs work Grant did last night was all
hammer & dolly work :o
No heat was applied to the roof.

& Drop in any time
Just call first.

Hey Ratbox,
The decapitated van is yet to give up its side panels to fill the windows.
So we haven't finished with it yet.
I know I said earlier there would be enough car left for a roadster ute, but
I have been looking at the front floor pans to be used to lower the seat position in the chopped van.
It also has chassis strenghting & gearbox crossmember mounts that i'm thinking of swapping over.
Dave(ek61) has asked me about the sill panels to fix his new project ute also.
There might not be a lot left :?

Cheers
Jeff

I have been a bit quiet on the updates lately,
but Len and I have still been moving along with it.

The roof panel has been fully welded, hammered into shape,
seams ground down, 3 hood bows modified & fitted,
its all been polished clean, & covered in metal conditioner.

We pushed the car out into the sun, & snapped of these pics for you all.

Thats Lens Early 50's Chev Custom parked out front, which is
a rolling testament to his skills in itself 8) 8) 8)
I consider myself very fortunate to have Len come and work on my humble holden,
which he's doing as a favour for a mutal friend of ours,
And he just loves doing it anyway.

There is the money shot.
How good does that look compared to the early build pics.
Len has done an awesome job to turn what was in the too hard basket,
back into a living breathing project. Thanks Len
