The silent but deadly apporach, often leaves you going WTF!

Eventually I'll try and get one in my EK, think of all the fun to be had!

I really did want that V8 sound, but wanting it to be a drive car I opted for the 6. Not real sure about the silent but deadly, when you give it a bit of throtle its got one hell of a bark, must be that twin 3" system.
Hopefully it will have some balls about it as i've also gone with a boost upgrade on the supercharger.

Got my cable wiper set up yesterday and have now got it fitted. They have to be the best way to do a wiper conversion ever. Will post photo's of the wiper set up soon.

cheers

OK guys, 2 speed wipers are finally all sorted.

Here are the cable wiper pickies as promised.
The first one is how it all looks prior to being fitted to the car :D
(after half a dozen trial fits of corse)
Image
I used the original FB wiper pivot housing as a sleeve for the
new wiper shafts to go through. This just had to have the outer
bush removed and the inner part of the housing shortened. This
way they fit nicely into the original position and don't appear that
different to original, except for only having a smaller nut on the
outside as well as the original nut
Image
Image
The wiper motor is mounted up under the dash on the passenger
side beside the glove box. This just needed a bracket welding on
for the motor to mount to.
Image
Image
Image
The pipe that links the left wiper to the right one runs over the top
of the plenum chamber where the fresh air comes into the car. This
was a tight fit  and I ended up having to lift the center of the top
of the dash a fly shit (about 3 to 4 mm). Looking at the top of the dash
you can't even tell its been lifted.
Image

All in all it was pretty easy, :D the kit comes with all wiring and switch,
so all you have to do is hook up power and earth. The pipes that
the flex cable runs through just have to be shortenen and reflanged
to suit the length you need.
O yeh, I did have to do a small modification to the demist ducts as
they also were a bit tight. Nothing a hit with the grinder in a few places didn't fix.
Next and last to fit up is seatbelts.

Cheers

Hey Mal, Just seat belts, looks like you'll be up and running for Yamba next queens birthday weekend. Have you decided on colour yet or are you going to make us wait for that.
Looks bloody awesome. Next time I'm up peanut country make sure you run the flashing lights for the pink lady as she speeds through town! lol lol

The wiper kit came from a US seller on EBAY. About $100 cheaper for the exact same thing here in Aust.

Colour is still undecided at this stage but the options are dwindleing.

Mal, is there adjustment with those wipers, or trial and error thing untill you get them working. Its such a neat looking setup I might go with that idea next time. Great job 8) 8) 8)

Hey John,

The wiper pivots themselves (where the wiper arm fits to) is a full threaded piece so you can adjust that in or out to where ever you want. The kit comes with 2 long tubes for the flex drive to run through, these have a flange on each end (same as a break pipe flange). These you just cut to the length you need and reflange the end you cut. The tube is alloy an easy to work with so you can bend it to where you want without any problems.
If you do it using the original wiper pivot body as a sleeve like I did its very easy. With these kits you can make the wipers work with an in ward sweep as per the original FB/EK or you can make them wipe to one side like EH/HR, just by turning on pivot body up side down (as per left and right pictures of mine).

I probably spent a week setting up the first 2 speed wiper motor that I was going to use from another car and getting the swing an timing right.

This just made it all to easy.

Cheers

The price of the Vintage air unit with the flash control panel was $1250. There is a smaller unit, but only marginaly. You could probably get away without cutting into the firewall by trimming about 10mm off the return of lower dash section.
I think running standard wiper setup would still be a problem though unless you dropped the unit down a bit.
I only went this way as I had to have a heater demister and I wanted a/c as well. This unit has it all and looks a lot better than the normal under dash a/c units. I got this unit from TCR down south 0397203006.
